The government has approved the continuation of e-Governance initiative MCA21, related to compliance of companies with various laws, till July 2021.An initiative of the Corporate Affairs Ministry, MCA21 is designed to fully automate all processes related to enforcement and compliance of the legal requirements under the Companies Act. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved continuation of MCA21 project for its second cycle from January, 2013 to July, 2021. It will be implemented as a non-plan scheme with an outlay of Rs 357.81 crore, including Rs 54.42 crore for independent project management and certification over the eight-and-a-half year period, according to an official release.

The department of e-governance has proposed to integrate five welfare schemes with Aadhar numbers. The government has chosen to integrate services connected to employment, housing and pension schemes, hoping this will increase Aadhar's 'mass appeal'. The pilot project will include the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme (MNREGS) and the Rajiv Gandhi Awaz Yojana, the Ashraya housing scheme, Bhagyalakshmi and the social security and pension scheme.

Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency is organising a 26-day long e-District training programme in Ariyalur district of Tamil Nadu. As part of the training, the revenue staff of the district, including tahsildars, revenue inspectors, and village administrative officers. The objective of the training is to train them on providing various revenue documents such as income certificate, community certificate and domicile certificates electronically.

Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Maharashtra has launched the first and one-of-its-kind 'Online Certification Course on e-Governance' in India. The course aims at creating awareness and understanding about e-governance in the people. The course is available for free and for everybody. The certification has been made mandatory for all staff-members in DIT as well as consultants and software developers working with Government of Maharashtra. Many mobile users in India have been receiving missed calls from premium international numbers, or calls related to winning lotteries, prompting them to call back and waste a much of their prepaid balance. TRAI (telecom industry regulator in India) has asked all operators to stop ISD calling on prepaid numbers until especially asked for by customers. TRAI says that it has been receiving complaints that people are getting missed calls (wangiri calls) and calls relating to winning prizes or lotteries from international numbers. These are often premium numbers charging high tariff, prompting consumers to call back such numbers. By responding to such calls/SMSs consumers have to pay unintended charges.

The West Bengal government awarded a Rs.103 crore contract to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for designing and implementing ICT solutions for the rural employment guarantee scheme in the state. The state government's panchayat and rural development department Friday signed an agreement with the IT major for the purpose. TCS will design, development, implement and maintain the end-to-end ICT solution for MNREGS, the flagship social development programme of the central government for providing 100 days work to the rural households, for five years in the state.
