When we booked our stay at the Provincetown Inn on Cape Cod, little did I know that the first North American landing spot for the Mayflower pilgrims was right across the street from our hotel! I'd always heard that they landed at Plymouth Rock, so it was a delightful surprise to find such a historic site just outside our door.

I've been fortunate enough to sample some great clam chowder over the years, on both coasts. In the past couple of weeks, I've been exploring Massachusetts with a native New Englander, and tasting chowder as we went - from the famous Legal Seafood in Boston, Mass, to the tip of Cape Cod. Who makes the best clam chowder?

Massachusetts is known as the other name The Bay State because of the Cape Cod Bay where the promotion of the new land "from sea to shining sea" is made. Massachusetts, one of the smallest states in America, has many attractions from the Appalachian mountain to the white-sandy beaches of the Atlantic Coast.
