Hike to good ole' Rocky Top in the Smoky Mountains! - 0 views

  •
Yes, this is the same Rocky Top that inspired the famous lyrics that is now the fight song for the Univ of Tennessee. This hike is one of the best hikes in the Smokies, especially if you hit the trail in June when the mountain laurel is on full display at Spence Field. Make sure to watch the video.

The Key Hole on Longs Peak in the Colorado Rockies - 0 views

  •
"Are we out of this godforsaken Boulder Field yet?" The famous trek to the Key Hole on Longs Peak requires a difficult slog through the Boulder Field, a rugged section of "trail", roughly 2/3 of a mile in length and climbs about 800 feet. The incredible views on the other side makes it all worth it, as you can see by the pictures.

Hiking to The Loch & Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park - 0 views

  •
Sky Pond, at an elevation 10,905 feet, sits at the bottom of an amphitheatre of sheer cliff walls that box in the lake on three sides. This an incredibly beautiful setting. One person we met said that the Cathedral Spires that ring the western shore of the lake reminded them of Switzerland.

It's known for its abundant natural stone arches, unusual rock formations, and spectacular sandstone cliffs. In fact, Red River Gorge has over 100 natural arches, making it the greatest concentration of arches east of the Rocky Mountains.

  •
The hike to Mount Rogers - the highest point in Virginia - is one of the best hikes east of the Rocky Mountains! Following the Appalachian Trail, you'll have outstanding panoramic views for most of the hike. You're also likely to see the wild ponies on Wilburn Ridge.

Hike to Mt. Rogers in Virginia - 0 views

  •
Nearly the entire length of the four-mile (one-way) hike to the summit of Mt. Rogers passes through open country, offering sweeping views of the surrounding wilderness as far as the eye can see. With the rocky outcroppings and the open views, it seems more like hiking in some places out west rather than in the Appalachian Mountains.
