Today the population of Armenia is about 3.5 million people. The national flag of Armenia, the Armenian Tricolor (Yeraguyn) is the state symbol of the Republic of Armenia. Armen Jigarkhanyan, born on October 3, 1935 in Yerevan, is one of the most popular Armenian and Soviet actors. He starred in dozens of films and provided the voice for many cartoon characters. Even during his school years, he became interested in theater and cinema. He worked as assistant cameraman at "Armenfilm" studios in 1953-1954. In 1958, Jigarkhanyan graduated from the Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute, course of A. Gulakyan. National Coat of Arms of Armenia was adopted by the Supreme Council in 1992. It replaced the emblem of the Armenian SSR after the collapse of the USSR. The coat of arms was designed by architect Alexander Tamanyan (best known for his work on Yerevan's city plan) and artist Hakob Kojoyan.

Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian, nicknamed "Iron Tigran" due to his safe playing style and strong defense, was considered the hardest player in the history of chess to beat. He was born on June 17, 1929 in an Armenian family in Georgia and died on August 13, 1984 in Moscow. He learned to play chess at the age of 8. When he was 12 years old, he began training at the Palace of Pioneers in Tbilisi under the auspices of Archil Ebralidze. Thus, Petrosian developed a repertoire of solid positional openings. In order to improve his game, Petrosian studied Nimzowitsch's My System and he is famous for being one of the best players pioneering the theory of prophylaxis, years after Aron Nimzowitsch.

Located in the southeast of Armenia, the large part of Vayots Dzor territory is a hill, devoid of forest cover and only 20% of its land is cultivated. Vayots Dzor Marz is bordering Nakhichevan in east and Karabakh in west. The rivers Yeghvard and Arpa pass through it. The capital of the Marz is the city Yeghegnadzor, located on the banks of the river Arpa. The name Vayots Dzor literally means "Valley of Woes" because several earthquakes devastated the area during its history.
