Markets ended with smart gains on Friday on cues from global pers. The Sensex added 357.72 points or 2.09% to 17,503.24. Indian benchmark indices ended higher in response the balanced budget presented by the Finance Minister. Sensex was up 141.4 points or 0.5% at 29361.5, while Nifty was up 57.3 points or 0.6% at 8901.9. US stocks closed mixed, with stocks near recent highs, as concerns about oil prices and a worse-than-expected initial jobless claims figure weighed on investor sentiment. DJIA was down 81.7 points or -0.4% at 18132.7.

U.S. stocks retreated to one-month lows on the back of a surge in the U.S. dollar and some weakness in oil. DJIA was down 332.8 points or -1.8% at 17662.9. Asian stocks are trading mixed as markets awaited more data that could shed light on the state of China's economy. Nikkei 225 is trading up 92.4 points or 0.5% at 18757.6, while Hang Seng is trading down 69.5 points or -0.3% at 23827.5. Indian rupee weakened to close at 62.7800 against USD. Copper Updates from the better than expected economic data from US, the concerns over Greece which has propelled the euro's dive to a 12-year low against the US dollar after the European Central Bank began its bond-buying program has strengthened the Dollar index which is currently trading around 99.92 marks, maintaining a downward pressure on selective commodities.

Metal and Oil & Gas stocks are trading with weakness. Sensex is down by 12.22 points or 0.04 per cent and is trading at 28491. Nifty rose 2.55 points or 0.03 per cent and is trading at 8645. Metal stocks fell by 1.41 percent. Power stocks have a weakness of nearly 1 per cent. Oil & Gas, FMCG and capital goods stocks are dull. IT and tech stocks have strong movements today.

BSE Sensex fell 654.25 points or 2.33 percent and closed at 27457.58 and the NSE Nifty dropped 188.65 points or 2.21 percent and closed at 8342.15. Midcap and smallcap stocks are worst sufferer. Except BSE Capital Goods Index,all other indices were in red. IT, metal and banking stocks were dominated with selling.
