Google Earth Engine brings together the world's satellite imagery - trillions of scientific measurements dating back almost 40 years - and makes it available online with tools for scientists, independent researchers, and nations to mine this massive warehouse of data to detect changes, map trends and quantify differences on the Earth's surface. Applications include: detecting deforestation, classifying land cover, estimating forest biomass and carbon, and mapping the world's roadless areas.

The anomalies posted at this site are derived from the Google Earth satellite imagery program.  This site contains postings and satellite images from The Ultimate Anomaly Collection of over 5,000 placemarks that consist of anomalous earthworks, unusual topography, geographical anomalies, scientific anomalies, mound sites, extraordinary sites, weird sites, unexplained features, mysterious landscape signs, unusual underwater formations/geography, and strange places seen with Google Earth.

Bigtable is a distributed storage system for managing structured data that is designed to scale to a very large size: petabytes of data across thousands of commodity servers. Many projects at Google store data in Bigtable, including web indexing, Google Earth, and Google Finance. These applications place very different demands on Bigtable, both in terms of data size (from URLs to web pages to satellite imagery) and latency requirements (from backend bulk processing to real-time data serving). Despite these varied demands, Bigtable has successfully provided a flexible, high-performance solution for all of these Google products.

Google Earth Engine is an online environment monitoring platform that makes available to the entire world a dynamic digital model of our planet that is updated daily. It stores petabytes of satellite data and allows high-performance tools to analyze and interpret this information that can then be visualized on a map, ranging from rainforest changes in the Amazon to water resources in the Congo.

Explore or add photos on a google map. Address search is provided by Google and GeoNames.org. Photos are shared via Flickr and satellite imagery via Google Maps. Programming frameworks are based on Helma and Prototype.
