We love to expirement with new ideas. In Google Code Labs, you'll find developer products that are experimental. Some of these will one day graduate out of labs, others may remain experimental or even be shut down. That's what a lab is for. Likewise, graduating from Google Code Labs is a big step that indicates our long-term commitment to that product.

Google X Lab, sometimes known as Google X,[1] is a secret facility run by Google thought to be located somewhere in the Bay Area of Northern California.[2] Work at the lab is overseen by Sergey Brin, one of Google's co-founders.[3] Reportedly worked on at the lab is a list of 100 projects pertaining to future technologies such as a space elevator, self-driving car, augmented reality glasses, a neural network that uses semi-supervised learning, enabling speech recognition and extraction of objects from video - for instance detecting if a cat is in a frame of video,[4] and the Web of Things.[2]

Google Glass has a series of Labs experiments that can be enabled on engineering or userdebug builds. Using APKTool, I've removed that restriction and now they can be enabled with root access.

Accessible Search is an early Google Labs product designed to identify and prioritize search results that are more easily usable by blind and visually impaired users. Regular Google search helps you find a set of documents that is most relevant to your tasks. Accessible Search goes one step further by helping you find the most accessible pages in that result set.

Google launched one of it's experimental feature in Google labs called Google Image Swirl, which searches for images and groups them in an funny and interactive interface
