I sent an invite from my new group yesterday and one was never received.

After some more testing today, I determined that the conditions that caused this were:
1) I didn't enter any invitations as I created the group
2) After the group was created, I clicked on 'invite others'
3) the e-mails were not sent
4) the next day, all invitations *were* sent correctly.
