I have been waiting a few minutes for:

* completed 1 of 2 items
* the lowest visible item is
'Harold Jarche » Sense-making with PKM'
Now I'm also waiting for
http://groups.diigo.com/group/Diigo_HQ?type=topic&dm=middle
* completed 7 of 8 items
* the lowest visible topic is
'FF 3.5.1 upgrade problem for Diigo'

hi, graham, i have clicked the links in your comment and both are works great.
i think this issue may caused by your unstable network connection.
FYI: Type "ping groups.diigo.com -t" in command line, and check if have data packets lost?

requires a value for timeout, what would you suggest?

A short while ago, AFAIR whilst waiting for
http://groups.diigo.com/group/Diigo_HQ/content/some-groups-appear-empty-964150
to load in OmniWeb:
http://groups.diigo.com/front-end-utils/front-end-utils.css?1254294731
timed out
— whilst waiting, the page was blank
— almost immediately after the time out, everything loaded very quickly.
A short while ago, AFAIR whilst waiting for
