To achieve expert proficiency in any task, you need to invest 10,000 hours in practice, essayist Malcolm Gladwell writes in the book "Outliers." This advice applies especially to soccer. In soccer titan Brazil, for example, a child can often can dribble at age 3 and play informal pickup games by 7, even sleeping with the ball at night. Even if you can't drop everything to practice soccer for hours a day for many years, each minute you devote to the game builds skills a little at a time for ultimately noticeable gains.
