"Digital apps designed to teach young children to read are an increasingly large share of the market, but parents and educators have little to no information about whether and how they work. Produced as part of a collaboration between the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, the New America Foundation, and the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop, this report scans the market of digital products and shares promising practices and programs."
This is a great website to share with your math students to get them thinking and building their number sense. I plan on using it as a daily activity with my math classes.
"In my role as Maths Leader in Grades 5/6, I have many opportunities to work with groups of children in both Grade levels. Sometimes I find it hard to report back to the classroom teachers what learning took place during my lessons with their students. This year I have increasingly turned to Padlet, a collaborative, interactive Online Board, to record the teaching and learning experiences I facilitate. Here I share my lesson documentation through an embedded link to my Volume Padlet (note: Padlet needs the latest version of IE, Chrome, Firefox or Safari to view and use)"
The ways teachers can lead are as varied as teachers themselves.
Teacher leaders assume a wide range of roles to support school and student success. Whether these roles are assigned formally or shared informally, they build the entire school's capacity to improve. Because teachers can lead in a variety of ways, many teachers can serve as leaders among their peers.
Being part of the alumna of the Gemological Institute of America has helped in my life long journey. Now I wish to share my knowledge with other potential gem lovers and buyers of beautiful jewellery.
Poetry Writing with U.S. Children's Poet Laureate
Poetry's cool - and a lot of fun! In this workshop, I will help you turn your words and ideas into descriptive and powerful poems. As you explore the world of poetry writing, I'll share with you writing tips that I use when I write my poems, as well as ideas for revising your work. When you complete the workshop, you can create a special edition of your poem - published online! I won't be commenting on your poems, but I'll enjoy reading them after you've posted them online.
