To support schools to implement the new Critical and creative thinking curriculum, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) engaged the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) to develop an online Critical and creative thinking assessment tool. 

Like never before, computational thinking is becoming part of our everyday world. Informatics is the study of the structure and behaviour of natural and artificial systems that generate, process, store, and communicate information. Across a broad range of fields from biomedical research to speed dating, and using the power and possibility of technology, informatics turns data into solutions that people can use every day.

Unlocking the Potential – A digital learning strategy for Victorian education and development settings sets out three interconnected strategic themes - learning, technology and change and a set of actions to implement. Technology alone will not improve learning, but the effective and purposeful use of digital technologies can add value, providing opportunities to redefine learning. A targeted and sustained focus is needed to ensure digital technologies are fully embedded in practice, used appropriately, and to greatest effect.
