This site is interactive with options to research famous Americans, learn about events in the past, learn about the different states, and even listen to old songs and video clips. I watched a video of a gymnastic routine in 1894. They called it "Early Break Dancing". This site has appealing visuals and is easy to maneuver. There are also questions that engage the learner. I think this would be a fun site for students.

The Library of Congress: America's Story from America's Library is designed to allow students to have fun with history while learning at the same time. The site provides five specific categories that allow the user to search by people, era, American pastimes and celebrations, and music and entertainment. The site promotes learning through games, trivia questions, true/false quizzes, and links that spark curiosity. It is easy to navigate and designed for all level of learners in elementary school.

I LOVE this website for my younger students - and older kids can have fun with it also. It is bright and active - but has tons of information on American history that is a little off the beaten path.

This is a collection of documents on law, history, and diplomacy. In World History we talk about many of these documents, so it would be interesting to have students read them and try to imagine how it felt to be a part of that event or history. For example, students can read the Balfour declaration to decide how Jews might react to it, and how Palestinians might react to it.

This site provides digital copies of historical documents which can be searched by century or by topic. The Avalon Projects collects records in the fields of law, history, economics, politics, diplomacy and government. Records include information from the ancient civilizations to the 21st century.

I love this website for its primary sources and because they are listed by time period. It makes narrowing down a subject or selecting a time period easier for students. It also allows students to browse through different time periods if they aren't sure what topic they want to research.

I thought this site was unique because the documents focused on children throughout the world. You can browse by region or do a specific search. I think children would really like this site because it would be interesting to learn about children in history and see how they could relate it to their life.

Grouped by region, this website provides a variety of topics.  Although it looks like the website was last updated in 2008, I thought it would be another resource to use with children.  Many of the topics I looked at were not typical documents you would find on most websites.

One hundred documents which reflect important events in American history. This site reflects the diversity and unity within our culture and its focus is highlighting, celebrating, and creating discussion that diversity and unity. It is not simply an archive of a broad collection of documents, but rather an archive which represents a vast range of American experiences.

Our documents includes 100 Milestone American historical documents compiled to span United States historical events from 1776-1965. Documents can be accessed by listing/year or visual/digital scroll bar. This resource would be valuable for intermediate elementary students through high school students as well as educators. Primary sources would be beneficial in U.S./American history and government education.

This website has many primary and government documents relating to the history of the United States.  One area that I really enjoyed exploring was the tools for educators.  Under that section, they had many tips for librarians such as creating book displays, bulletin board ideas, and a link to a poster so staff and students can vote on the most important American history documents.

This is Intended for elementary and secondary school students and teachers who are interested in learning about the nervous system and brain with hands on activities, experiments and information.

This website's main focus is centered on the history and culture of California and the role it played in national and world history. Calisphere includes photographs, diaries, recorded oral history, cultural artifacts, documents, etc. I feel this is a great resource, even for teachers not living in California, because of the variety of information presented and the prevalence of primary and secondary sources of our nation's history. 

This website has many different topics.  I like that they include topics like assembly lines and other important pieces of history that are not always featured on other sites.  Most topics that I look at included many images which students will love.

This website allows students to search images and information related to a theme, such as the Civil Rights Movement, or of a specific subject, such as Rosa Parks.

This website has many lesson plans and units prepared for teachers using primary sources documents that were found at the National Archives. Covering the American Revolution to the present, the lessons focus on sequencing, details, interpretation, and connections of events. Great for Middle School through high school.

Students use primary sources to learn about historical events. There are activities ready to use in the classroom or modify existing activies to meet your classroom needs.

The National Archives Experience Docs Teach site allows its users to register and bookmark activities while allowing them to create their own interactive activities for the classroom. The site is designed to motivate students to take an interest in what they are learning by providing materials that sparks interest, provides multiple perspectives, and helps teach students how to recognize bias and question where the information they are reading is coming from. The site provides ready-to-use classroom materials as well as access to thousands of primary sources from the National Archives that allow the teacher to promote further investigation while making connections between the past and present.

This site has a variety of resources for teachers and students on the history of the holocaust. Also covered is anti-semitism and genocide. The online presentations, especially the personal perspective of survivors are haunting.

The ushmm or the United States Holocaust Museum is and imporant website because it gives you access to anything that pretains to the Holocaust. Not only information about the event, but also the survivors themselves.

This is a sobering wesite that documents the events, the people and the history of the Holocaust. The site also addresses genocide and those who are at risk today.

I think this particular section of USA.gov will be helpful to our social studies teachers as well as to our religion teachers. Both departments cover aspects of Cultural diversity and respect for human dignity. I think some of these documents will help demonstrate these topics.

On this website you can search different topics about Nebraska history.  I think this would be very helpful for fourth grade students because they study Nebraska.  

This source provides Nebraska specific resources for individuals.  It offers keyword searchable documents and the database of information is being added to regularly.  It is a dynamic resource on Nebraska history. 

This site offers a variety of information pertaining to Nebraska. Among some of the things you will find are government records, public documents, newspapers, photographs, and genealogy information.

This is a good site for those seniors whose Senior Project topic is on environmental issues. It is a springboard for choosing a specific focal point. It would also be good for the students to use for choosing an action plan for their project. Site is also a great science site for younger kids if you choose to look at only the bullet facts provided.

This EPA site gives the reader lots of options. One can learn about information where you live, popular topics, and current environmental news. I typed my zip code and found out the air quality, water and land information, the health risks, and energy produced in my area. I also explored some of the topics such as health and safety issues. Students could use this site to approach project-based learning and inquiry projects.

High school. Topic of studies range from acid rain, air pollution, land fills, and more. Easy to navigate. Student can find and comprehend information with easy to create reports on environmental issues, causes, and solutions

There are numerous websites that offer various lessons plans and information for teachers about teaching about energy in the classroom.

Great website for elementary students about weather. Many activities to engage students as well as teachers.Stories and games make it a fun site to visit and learn at the same time. It also addresses one of the Nebraska State Standards for Science in 2nd grade. This primary site has a teacher guide for ideas to teach about many different kinds of weather related information.

This site has lots of information about weather. Students can learn about lightning, tornadoes, hurricanes,blizzards, and floods. There are links to safety, games, activities, stories, and more. One of the games is cloud concentration in which students click on cards to find matching clouds. The stories looked very interesting and were all about severe weather.

This site is fun, friendly and easy to navigate. Students can research a topic such as clouds. After students have read about the layers of the clouds they have the options of playing a related game or related activity that could be done in the classroom or at home. Students can learn what makes weather, do activities and learn to predict the weather.

This is LIFE magazine's photo archive. I love this site because it has everything. Yu can photos for recent history as well as anything from the past. It has a great search option. I use this to set up picture walks when I am teaching anything that my students may not have background knowledge for.

This site has games, activities and other fun stuff for elementary students about space and the solar system.

The Smithsonian Collections has a vast collection of objects, documents, photos, etc. ranging from ancient civilizations to current historical events. According to the Smithsonian website there are "7.4 million digital records available online through the Collections Search Center." This site would be a great resource for students when searching for primary documents. 

The Smithsonian is the world's largest museum and research complex that provides materials for educators, students, and researchers and allows the user to make connections while providing a multitude of activities and instruction to learn from. This site allows its users to access a plethora of information from different tabs and links allowing its users to explore research centers, exhibitions, events, cultural programs, collections, museums and zoos through interactive tools, links, videos and websites. Smithsonian also provides a newsroom that feeds updates and information about the Smithsonian.

One of the greatest museums in the entire world. The website is great for middle school-high schools. It brings history to each and every person who accesses it. No longer do you have to travel so far to learn so much. It would be a great use to students looking for primary resouces.

This is an archive of political cartoons printed in Britain. It would be great for a lesson that showed multiple viewpoints and perspectives on issues and moments in history. Students can analyze them to find out the cartoonist's perspective on an idea, and what the public's reaction was to an event. I use these in class to have my students see how one country can react to the events in another, and how different areas view each other.

This site list British cartoons from 1904 to the 1990's.  Cartoons are often a mirror of the culture which they portray.  This site is excellent source for social and political history of Great Britain. This site also allows registered users to create groups of cartoons for education purposes and users can access other previously created groups. The site also provides teaching and learning tools and lessons.

This is one part of the site, "History Matters," and it is all about helping students and teachers understand and make use of primary sources. There are all kinds of activities to help learn how to read and analyze letters, photographs, songs, cartoons, etc. On other parts of the site, you can find primary sources documenting American past.

This site was created by the National Oceanic and Atmopshperic Association in an effort to share photographs collected by the personnel who work for the agency. This would be a great site for students to collect visual artifacts (past and present) for assignments dealing with weather events and ocean life.
