There several ways to search the FBI-by category, keyword, site map, and A-Z index. Most of the primary resources are documents from the FBI's files on a variety of people, from Lady Bird Johnson to Michael Jackson. Occasionally, there are things other than documents, like video of 9/11 attack. This site is mainly for grades 6-12 for American history.

Our district recently partnered with SHEG to provide us with these lessons and documents. On the left there are units and each one has a guide for students to use as well as copies of the documents. It provides support activities to help students understand how to use sources effectively, how to understand perspective, and how to put a primary document in context with the time period.

It would also be good for the students to use for choosing an action plan for their project. This EPA site gives the reader lots of options. One can learn about information where you live, popular topics, and current environmental news. I typed my zip code and found out the air quality, water and land information, the health risks, and energy produced in my area. I also explored some of the topics such as health and safety issues. Students could use this site to approach project-based learning and inquiry projects.

I love the way this site is arranged by continents. When doing research on countries with elementary students (3rd grade), they need information that is authentic, but also easy to grab. One of our 3rd grade standards in Elkhorn is to learn the continents and land forms. We expand this into a research project where each child chooses a country. I believe 3rd grade students would be able to navigate this site.

This site would be good for social studies, animal, geography, the arts, and countries research. For example, one of the things found when searching "Nebraska" was a picture postcard from 1908 with a battleship and a short history of the USS Nebraska.

I liked how when you first are on this site you are given a map of the world and can pick your documents from the various areas of the world. You can also search by time, topic or type of item. This site is very visual when searching which I enjoyed.

I thought this site was unique because the documents focused on children throughout the world. You can browse by region or do a specific search. Grouped by region, this website provides a variety of topics. Although it looks like the website was last updated in 2008, I thought it would be another resource to use with children. Many of the topics I looked at were not typical documents you would find on most websites.
