Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids provides a basic introduction to the Federal Government. It also is set up in grade levels from K-12 to address specific State Standards. This website makes it easy for students to access information they need on their level.

This website allows you to see virtual exhibits from historical events. It also has a teacher page with information to aide with using this source. I appreciated the ease of using this website.

This website is FULL of primary sources related completely to Martin Luther King, Jr. and the civil rights movement. You can listen to his famous "I have a dream" speech as well as find bibliographical information about MLK, Jr.

This site would be great for high school students! Students can research primary documents or they can look at online exhibits of various topics that have already been compiled. When looking at the exhibits, an explanation is given and then various photos and videos are shown. This is a great resource for primary documents!

This site is dedicated to remembrance of Holocaust victims. It has some primary source archives like diaries, photographs, art work, and testimonies. It would be a great place to start some primary research for senior Holocaust projects.

This site has a collection of declassified information from testimonies, congressional records, and presidental papers. This website can help find primary government documents relating to events in American History. Audio clips, articles, and picture are included for a resource for ages 6-12.

Student friendly wed site that explores energy basic, energy resources, using and saving energy and history of energy. The teacher's resource has activities that use this web site.

National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's photo library is a primary source for ocean and nature photographs. It is arranged by topic collections. Some of my favorites include: National Severe Storms Laboratory Collection (severe weather), It's a Small World Collection (around the world in alphabetical order), and Coral Kingdom Collection (vertebrates/invertebrates,plants). Excellent examples are provided for use with student lessons (i.e. coral kingdom for living vs. nonliving organisms) as well as student research materials.

This is an "online museum of historic newspapers" and other historical documents. It provides users a chance to peruse documents dating back to the 15th century. It includes eyewitness accounts, letters, government documents, and of course, newspapers. This would be a great resource for any upper elementary through high school student studying any part of American history.

This is an interesting site that tries to present both sides of controversial issues. It uses journals, government documents, reports and other primary sources to present each side of the issue. Topics include education, health and medicine, politics, religion, sports, media and entertainment, money and business to name a few. This would be a great site for debate class, writing a persuasive speech, and use with current events.

This site provides a fun and interactive way for students to look at statistical information from the US government. It would help students with map skills and being able to read mathematical information (mean, median etc.) from a graph. There are links included for teachers and parents along with a link to "grown up stats" that links you to fedstats.gov.

This site includes numerous science lesson plans, homework resources, and interactive games to assist students and teachers.

I know it may seems like a wild card, but believe Wikipedia has a place in the education world. I think it is a great jumping off point for finding topics and small snip bits of information. Would I tell my students to completely rely on what Wikipedia says? No, but its a good starting place.

Worldpress is imporant because I believe that its healthy to look outside of our own news and see a different take on the world. Its an important resource that I think is under used when students are looking for good articles to write about.

The Nebraska Partnership for American History Education provides a variety of primary source resources by theme, time period, photos (1850-1938), and bibliographic collections. This site is useful for Nebraska history, United States history, women's history, Native & African American histories. It would definitely be appropriate for intermediate elementary students through high school students and all educators (lesson plans can be found here).

This site offers a variety of information pertaining to Nebraska. Among some of the things you will find are government records, public documents, newspapers, photographs, and genealogy information.

This website is a great place for students to find information and pictures about the history of our national parks.
