I love these links and activities. I initially went to this site because it seemed promising for science and math activities. There are a variety of subjects covered here to include the initial two mentioned and foreign languages. There are also primary source activites here, a real tresure chest. Not only can I use some of these with my high school foreign language students, but also find things to keep my grandkids entertained when babysitting.

This site discusses what climate change is and what can be done to help it. Current news and data streams about global warming and climate change from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Student friendly site with lots of resources for teachers.

This primary source describes the importance of the buffalo and hide painting for the Plains Indians. It is geared toward intermediate elementary students. You will find teacher information, art work and information for students to read.This would also be a good website for the Art teacher in you.

Search digital collections on this website to see all sorts of print, radio, and TV ads for various companies such as Kodak, Palmolive, Pullman, and Coca Cola. I think that social studies teachers would use this site quite a bit when studying certain eras or when looking to compare the past with the present. There are also propaganda posters from different time periods that could be used when studying U.S. and world history.

The NMAH Collections found at this website could be used for both students and teachers of all ages. This is a great way for students to see some of the artifacts in the Smithsonian. For example,a digital photo of cast iron shoes worn by a chemist can be viewed. There is also a nice timeline feature where the user can select an era and a timeline with artifacts from that time period appear. When the user clicks on the artifact, a larger picture pops up along with a description of the item and a link to the Smithsonian collection in which it is found.

This is a portal with a plethora of great links. There is a full page of links for educators and then drop-down menus that separate K-6 and 7-12. In the drop-down menus, there are links to entire pages of websites devoted to topics like the government, history, the military, math, and science. Many of the sites contain government documents.

I love the way this site is arranged by continents.  When doing research on countries with elementary students (3rd grade), they need information that is authentic, but also easy to grab.  One of our 3rd grade standards in Elkhorn is to learn the continents and land forms.  We expand this into a research project where each child chooses a country.  I believe 3rd grade students would be able to navigate this site.

This is an easy to follow site for Social Studies of the Westward Expansion and Pioneers.

The links from this site are fantastic! There were some broken links from the library of congress that I think would be very good if they were fixed. State standards are listed at the bottom, but they did not include Nebraska. Lesson plans, examples and activities help teach the topic of primary sources well.

This Bureau of Labor Statistics page provides information on different occupations based on national numbers, regional, state, and a number of different metropolitan areas. There are also a number of links to other related sites that can be accessed regarding employment trends.

This site provides statistical data that can be used in preparing research papers as well as for students looking at careers based on geographic location as a source for determining their career future.

This site provides a fun and interactive way for students to look at statistical information from the US government. It would help students with map skills and being able to read mathematical information (mean, median etc.) from a graph. There are links included for teachers and parents along with a link to "grown up stats" that links you to fedstats.gov.

The National Gallery of Art (NGA) website provide a unique resource page to connect art and other areas of curriculum. The resources finder allows you to search by curriculum, topic, or artist. These searches provide you with student activities, teacher lesson plans, biographies, and the artwork to accompany them. The NGA has a loan program available.

The Holocaust Memorial Center has facinating primary resources which include oral testimonies, art, and photos. This resource provides powerful personal connections between the artifacts and the researcher. Materials would be appropriate for students in grades 6-12 studying the holocaust, history, or comparison/contrast with global current events involving genocide . Educator and student resources are available.

Nebraska Legislature site is the official resource for the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature. Resources include transcripts and photos along with the Nebraska Blue Book. This would be appropriate for students in the fourth grade through high school for social studies and local government/historical information. The students and teachers section is divided nicely for easy access.

The Louisiana Digital Library features digital collections of maps, manuscripts (letters, diaries, etc.), images/photos, video/audio recordings, newspapers and more. Collections can be accessed by topic, institution, media format, geographic focus, and time period. The time period collection includes a great visual time line with prominent historical events featured for easy acquisition. This would be useful for student/educator historical research; jazz music and New Orleans culture as well as state hurricane information. Many collections would be beneficial in establishing of geographic/cultural context for several literature connections.

Eyewitness:American Originals form the National Archives provides first-hand and personal testimonies of select historical events as told from the point-of-view of presidents: Jefferson, Washington, Truman, JFK, Bush Sr., John Adams, Carter, Eisenhower-as well as other influential individuals. This would be great for time period specific research projects. Easy to read and compact digital arrangements make this user friendly for young students, teens, and educators.

Digital History:Explorations is a resource with time period/theme specific "webquests" for both students and teachers. Primary source documents (photos, documents, letters, etc.) along with teacher resources and lesson plans make this an excellent multiple literacies must for teachers and school librarians.

This website is a great place for students to find information and pictures about the history of our national parks.

Primary sources dealing specifically with Nebraska. This would be a great source for bringing history ideas to Nebraska and showing how worldwide or national ideas can impact a local area
