The great LMS debate - my thoughts | Live | Love | Learn - 0 views

  •
"I've been support educators to integrate technology since 2008. I've been fortunate to do this at school, region, state and online situations. In that time I have seen those I now consider friends go through a bit of a continuum in 'online content integration'. It believe it goes something like this."

Web 2.0 for the Under 13s crowd - 0 views

  •
"As I lamented in my last post, many of the fabulous Web tools out there are restricted to users 13 and over. This limits what Elementary/Primary schools students can access online to create content to collaborate. To save others at school some time, then, I have compiled a list of popular/well known Web tools that can and can't be used by children under 13 - 1), so we are legally covered in what we are allowing our students to use and 2), so they know what is available. Please note that generally the sites that allow for under 13s still ask for parental permission ( even Edmodo if you haven't read the Terms of Use) so a solid school user agreement is needed to use these tools. Some of the sites are not US based so are not bound by COPPA and CIPA regulations. It still requires schools to carefully check out what can be viewed on these sites to ensure they are appropriate to access."

Kids can't use computers... and this is why it should worry you - Coding 2 Learn - 0 views

"I want the people who will help shape our society in the future to understand the technology that will help shape our society in the future. If this is going to happen, then we need to reverse the trend that is seeing digital illiteracy exponentially increase. We need to act together, as parents, as teachers, as policy makers. Let's build a generation of hackers. Who's with me?"

How to setup and use Google Chromecast with your iPhone, iPad, or Mac | iMore - 0 views

  •
"The Google Chromecast is one of the hot tickets in the tech world right now, and while it has somewhat limited functionality compared to something like an Apple TV, there's a lot to be said for it. It's only $35 for starters, and has cross-platform functionality - though Google's idea of cross-platform is still limited to ChromeOS and the Chrome browser, iOS and Android. That's great news for us however, as with Netflix and YouTube initially - and likely Google Play Music when it finally makes the jump to iOS - supported already, we can get in on the action. So, if you're tempted, keep on scrolling for everything you need to know!"

As teachers we need to consider our students backgrounds. Who has access to computers at home, how will this effect their learning?

Today's infographic shows how information is scattered everywhere-across hard-drives, the cloud, e-mail, and locked away in the memory of your co-workers. Trying to navigate the unavoidable influx of spam and remembering where something is stored can be overwhelming. Searching for and actually finding the information you need is often futile.

Why my six-year-olds blog (and why your students should, too) - 0 views

  •
"When I first began blogging with my students some years ago, it did not occur to me that digital portfolios were possible with young children. I saw their blogs as a place for them to write. Period. But as they continued to write regularly and I watched their collection of blog posts expand, I saw the potential to showcase the tremendous growth in writing that students experience from the beginning to the end of grade one."

I even have an exponent whose family had been saving up for years to travel to film producer World. This perceived to have all of the correct precautions required to avoid fraud or hackers. However somehow a hole was found and $6,000 was taken out of their savings. No film producer World for his or her family. However perhaps the hacker had a pleasant trip instead? We will solely hope. The 6 types of Questions your Students Need to Know about ~ Educational Technology and ... - 0 views

  •
"Learning is all about asking questions and finding answers to them. An inquisitive mind is one that goes beyond the status quo and probes deep below surface meanings. To foster such kind of  thinking inside our classroom requires some hard work and a serious investment in time and efforts. We, as teachers and educators, need to prepare the right environment where inquisitive minds can nourish and grow. We need to water this environment with a culture of asking questions."
