"Google Alert allows you to create alerts around topics you are interested in and start receiving emails with updates about your search query. For instance as a doctoral student with a research interest in emerging literacies , I have created an alert with the name " emerging literacies" and each time something new published online with those key words in it I get an email with a link to it. This keeps me abreast of the latest releases in my area of research. I also use Google Alert to track down authors and scholars whose works are related to my research areas. I simply create a Google Alert with their names as the alert titles and next time they publish something I get it first. Another way to use Google Alert is to create an alert about yourself by using your full name and anytime somebody mentions you somewhere online you will instantly receive an email with a link to it. "Google Docs is my favorite tool for keeping my email inbox free of large file attachments from my students. In fact, after September 30 I don't accept written assignments from my students in any other format. But, I realize that there are some files that aren't perfectly suited to being viewed in Google Docs. Tag My Doc is a neat service that allows you to put QR codes on any of your documents. I initially tried it out and reviewed it here last fall. Today, the Tag My Doc team sent me an email announcing some new features which include integration with the cloud storage services Dropbox and Box.

EduClipper is the latest in a string of Pinterest clones, true (See below), but Bellow's experience in education - in the classroom and with professional development - should give him a leg up in creating a tool that'll work in classrooms and that'll work for teachers. EduClipper lets you build clipboards into which you can post links, images, videos and documents and upload files to share with others. These clipboards can be private or public - that's a key dfferentiator between eduClipper and its competitors- clipped for one's self and/or shared to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Evernote, and Edmodo or via email.

I have seen teenagers post pictures of their first credit card, then a month later their new college student I.D. Now I am a culprit of being very relaxed about my online privacy, meaning, I have the same password for multiple sites, I use my high school name as my clue, and the name of my high school is on Facebook somewhere. This is a great article. I never thought about fraud or being hacked on the internet, until I uploaded a picture of my working with children check for in the Northern Territory onto Facebook. Straight away, my mum called me and told me to take it off! even though my Facebook is set to private, she made me realise that anyone can still find it and use it! I've always been one to be super careful of these things and now am even more careful when I hear about people's email passwords and Facebook passwords being changed without them knowing! I think if my students were to have online accounts such as blogs etc. I would make sure they had them all set onto private so that they can't get hacked, especially of their identity.

"In straight forward business terms I see the growth and adoption of cloud following a traditional bell curve between the years 2010 and 2020. We are in year two now, and I would guess that between five and ten percent of applications in use in enterprises are cloud based (typically CRM, email, collaboration applications) and that about fifty percent of businesses are trying cloud to some degree. By 2015, I reckon fifty percent of all applications in use will be cloud based and ninety percent of all firms will have some cloud exposure. Little Bird Tales is a great online site, (similar to photostory), for creating digital stories that can be embedded into your site all you need do is "Step 1 Create or upload your artwork to each page. Step 2 Record your voice and add text to each page. Step 3 Email friends and family your finished book. "

The Exploratree web resource has been developed by Futurelab and emerged out of our work on the Enquiring Minds project. It provides a series of ready-made interactive 'thinking guides' or 'frameworks' which can support students' projects and research. Thinking guides support the thinking or working through of an issue, topic or question and help to shape, define and focus an idea and also support the planning required to investigate it further. Exploratree guides can be used as a basis for whole class discussion, or emailed to individuals or groups to complete. They can also be used as a presentation tool to share your findings and thinking with others. As well as providing a set of ready to use thinking guides, which are completely customisable and shareable, Exploratree also enables teachers and students to create their own simply and easily.

For the last couple of years Vimeo has offered free music to download and re-use in your video projects. Now YouTube is offering the same thing through the YouTube Audio Library. This library is slightly different than the free music available when you use the YouTube slideshow creation tool. The music in the YouTube Audio Library is music that you can download to use in projects online and offline. You can search the library of music according to genre, mood, instrument, or duration. You can listen to the tracks before downloading them as MP3 files.
