What is the Future of Cloud Computing - 1 views

  •
"In straight forward business terms I see the growth and adoption of cloud following a traditional bell curve between the years 2010 and 2020. We are in year two now, and I would guess that between five and ten percent of applications in use in enterprises are cloud based (typically CRM, email, collaboration applications) and that about fifty percent of businesses are trying cloud to some degree. By 2015, I reckon fifty percent of all applications in use will be cloud based and ninety percent of all firms will have some cloud exposure. By 2020, I think we are talking about one hundred percent in terms of firms and ninety-five percent of working applications being cloud based."

"A little over a year ago, Google officially changed the name of its Docs app to Drive and gave users cloud storage to compete with Dropbox. While so far the search giant has yet to dethrone the incumbent, the service does have one distinct advantage over the competition: a wide array of extensions and apps that integrate directly into the service."

Copyright stuck in horse and buggy era - 1 views

  •
"Search engines such as Google and popular cloud computing services may have been "sued out of existence" if they started in Australia, while consumers who make remixes or mash-ups of copyright songs and videos are also breaching the law. These are just some of the glaring issues with the Copyright Act that have been raised today by the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) and copyright experts. The ALRC has released a new issues paper for its inquiry into whether Australia's copyright laws have kept up with the digital age."

10 Major Mobile Learning Trends to Watch For | MindShift - 0 views

  •
"Technology has been used in the classroom for decades now. But with the advent of cloud computing and the proliferation of smaller, more portable computers and Internet-capable devices, it's now possible to bring the classroom into the technology instead. Mobile learning, focuses on learning through mobile devices, allowing learners to move about in a classroom or remotely learn from the location of their choice. The movement has gained a lot of steam in recent years, and despite some criticisms, isn't likely to fade fast - especially as new technologies that make mobile learning more practical continue to emerge and the popularity of remote learning opportunities like online colleges continue to grow."

Today's infographic shows how information is scattered everywhere-across hard-drives, the cloud, e-mail, and locked away in the memory of your co-workers.
