AR can be used to bring still pictures to life, point the camera on a mobile device at a still image and it will trigger a video. By following a few steps described here (with examples) you can create your own learning materials.
 
Alternatively AR can be triggered by location. Point your device at a pre-detemined location to retrieve a video or information you have prepared for learning.

The World Digital Library (WDL) makes available on the Internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials from countries and cultures around the world. The US Department of Defense will donate "hundreds" of surplus robots to police departments as early as this summer. Dan Arnold of the Defense Logistics Agency announced that along with surplus rifles and vehicles, military 'bots will be made available through the 1033 Program, which provides surplus goods to law enforcement. Other agencies, like fire departments, may also be able to get the robots though different programs. A Defense Department spokeswoman told Wired that the agency still wasn't sure what would be included: "The item manager for these robots… will determine which models can be declared excess."

Welcome to the 'iPad in Education' web site - concerned with using Apple's iPad for learning and teaching. Although this is based in the UK, the site's content will reflect practice from other counties and contexts in order to explore and learn from a wide field. I am Ian Wilson (www.ianwilson.biz) a freelance Apple Education Mentor based in the north west of England (Twitter: @Ian__Wilson). I have set up this site as I believe the iPad signals the opportunity for a transformation in how technology is used in schools, colleges and universities.
