The Evolution of the LMS It seems as though the education world is still reeling from Monday's surprising news that Blackboard is acquiring Moodle support services Moodlerooms and Netstop, launching an open source initiative, and purportedly shifting its focus away from just its own LMS to support services for the entire ecosystem.

It is interesting how we talk about having open systems and a creative commons in the time where the Conservative gov't is pro closing off openess and thus transparency. They want to shut down the CBC and provide more police powers to gather information from people online. It appears that the ideas of connectivism and the power base are in theory, correct.

A collection of free education resources With the announcement that Open University course fees are about to increase massively, I've been gradually collecting alternatives using the excellent Evernote on-line tool. Every time I saw a link to a free course or other educational resource, I "evernoted it" (I believe "to evernote" is a verb now).

Hello Brainy Smurf (love that name!). That is a troubling stat and likely often true - 14% of time at work is spent on unwanted communication and 36% is spent finding information, contacting people and scheduling meetings. Maybe network analysis and more efficient connectivity can help with some of this? Here's hoping!!!

Hi, Joanne. I am still baffled by the number of people I meet who are drowning in information (emails being the biggest culprit). Networking FEELS like more flooding in the beginning but one learns to build oneself better filters and then its all good.
