  AFAICT the blocking bug is
  highlight: pencil icon makes all text to the right of the highlight invisible
  and the underlying problem is the pencil icon or speech bubble.
  
  It's an increasing annoyance.

  Bug is not limited to Diigo Meta. Bug bites Diigolet.
  
  I'm less and less convinced that the speech bubble icon is a good idea.
  
  Displacement of text, for any reason, feels gimmicky. The speech bubble icons are too intrusive, they remind me of Snap, which I always detested.
