Breaking out of defence from a corner, Ronaldo started a lightening move which Rooney carried up-field, the number 10 returning the ball back into Ronaldo's path with the Portuguese forward coolly finding the net. 15 minutes from time United's night soured, Darren Fletcher was sent off for a foul on Fabregas in the box, with Robin van Persie scoring a superb penalty.

The Catalans took control of the match early in the second half, Leo Messi converted a rebound before Bojan Krkic slipped in a beautiful third off the far post. A super free-kick from Xavi made it three goals in five minutes to kill the match. The match was soured when Dani Alves was struck on the head by a beer can thrown by a Bilbao supporter.

Three minutes later and Arsenal took the lead, Aurelio the defender at fault this time, presenting Arshavin with an easy chance to complete his hat-trick. Two minutes later it was 3-3, Fernando Torres turning Silvestre to level the game yet again. An incredible match still had two late goals to lend it legendary status, first Arshavin bagged his fourth after good work by Walcott only for Liverpool to equalise in injury-time with a close-range effort from Benayoun.
