To be fair I could just gobble down a percentage of chips, a jacket spud with beans or a but I like food, and great food at that. I like to consume a varied and healthy diet and I want either over 2-3 meals, one of which is often chips.
So I walk up to the soups to find out today's line-up: vegetable, carrot and coriander, courgette and cream of chicken. Nearly every day I can be found in here and almost every day I ask if any of the sauces are 'dairy-free', and every time I get the same grumpy response, 'Huh, I will just go and check for you,' says the canteen staff, as she trundles off to ask the cook. I don't really understand why they do not label the soups with these useful little 'V's o-r green ticks. I am confident I am maybe not the only one within the university's populace of 10,000 who avoids milk products.

Yes that means creamy sauces, desserts, chocolate and dressings, chosen pastas, breads and biscuits. But there are certainly a large number of ingredients that one could never imagine incorporate milk and an even greater volume that quite frankly should not. As an example, many processed soups, sauces and vegetables include nearly all pre-packed sandwiches and milk or egg rice are created with butter or mayonnaise. What has surprised me the most since watchfully studying the materials list of everything I eat is that some processed foods include milk or milk powder.
Oh well, I am not complaining. There are many of foods I could eat and for the very first time I am enjoying guilt-free consumption of those historically 'sinful' foods.
