Our group thought these digital and media literacy questions and competencies should be used by our teachers to help students develop the skills of evaluating media resources. "Since our focus is teaching about propaganda in the English/Language Arts Classroom, we will be using the following five key questions and five key competencies on Digital and Media Literacy developed by Renee Hobbs of The Media Education Lab at Temple University.* These questions and competencies will frame each module of our study of Nazi propaganda, and we hope you will find them helpful as you plan any media study for your classroom: DIGITAL AND MEDIA LITERACY QUESTIONS 1. What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in this message? 5. What is omitted from the message? *The Aspen Institute Communications and Society Program, Digital and Media Literacy: A Plan of Action, Washington, D.C.: The Aspen Institute, November 2010.
