This article talks about a piece of visual rhetoric found in NY. The rhetoric has pretty good kairos, because the Edward Snowden incident happened fairly recently.

A pretty controversial issue right now. I thought it was neat how it talks about audiences and how changing the audience effected the situation.

Everything is controversial but the only thing that matters is the person, group, etc. in question. She has the right to choose and if she was in that much pain daily, she made the right choice with the medicinal aid.

Tips for getting better results while researching online, specifically google.

Most of these tricks I feel are well known but the most useful tip is how to search on Google. Everyone simply asks questions when Google can give you a specific format, the author and topic easily by the search style defined at the beginning of the article.

I thought most of these tricks have been well discovered and preached multiple times throughout school. That being said i always enjoy reading about helpful strategies that can make researching easier.

Its an article which questions whether most research papers are being written on false distinction. His main argument is with modern research engines, students are no longer learning the intended message and it only takes a few minutes to put together papers that look like hours in the library. Therefore they become useless for learning.

I disagree with the author, the availability of information through the internet is fast compared to a library which can be bad but it is also vast. There is an abundance of perspectives that the internet gives you access to where there is a limit in the physical sense. It all depends on who is doing the research, not how easy information is accessed.

I found the tips that were giving in this article very helpful when I was looking better sources.

Definitely something everyone should look at. Finding sources is the key part to a exploratory essay as they are the puzzles pieces necessary to put together your paper.

it was an interesting article about where subcultures are at today and how they have they have stayed the same/changed over time

I find that the effectiveness of this article varies upon the topic group. The writer put very little emotion or biased into some of the groups and filled out with emotion for the others

This is one of the subcultures on the list we received and I thought it was interesting how different people live and what is normal to others is completely bizarre to most.

Its interesting also to analyze this video in the way that it is Arielle Castillo's firsthand, primary research on this subculture.

This woman who was born with a condition that gives her an advantage over "normal" women (so she is kind of a "freak" in that sense) but her case is resulting in lots of rhetoric that tests our ideas of the boundaries/definitions of gender and sex.

Looking through this article actually surprised me. It is her natural self, it's not like she took testosterone meds to get to that state. Even if it is an advantage, there are plenty of aspects that people can have an advantage in but just because she has hyperandrogenism doesn't mean she should be banned from competing. Athletes take performance enhancing drugs, whereas this is a natural event.

This piece of visual rhetoric appeals to pathos in the way that it is supposed to make you feel like Facebook will make you happier because now your friends are your fans.

I really like this example of visual rhetoric. It also pursuades you to get a Facebook because then you can have "fans"

This rhetor is using pathos and ethos to show her disapproval of standardized tests.

She is also creating kairos in this article because of how she says that she want to quit now. She states that it is now that these standardized tests have to be removed because otherwise you might lose good teachers.

This an example of ineffective visual rhetoric. I remember when these ads came out there was a lot of backlash on target and did the opposite of the purpose of trying to persuade people to buy their swimsuits.

It's creepy to me how much they feel they need to photoshop these girls. I agree its definitely ineffective visual rhetoric.

I think the last tip is very helpful. Using a source as a "gateway" to more credible sources could be very helpful.
