    One of the middle school social studies teachers I work with now has her students copy and paste their reports into wordle to look at how focused the report is on the subject and for word variety. The word variety self-assessment came about when a student put her report into wordle and saw that "also" was the largest word, She showed it to her teacher and said, "I guess I use "also" too much." The teacher made a lesson out of it and now the students are much more aware of the word choices they make.

    Yes, does this teacher blog? Has someone told her story on a school or private website? If so, we need to share this idea and experience. If not, would she have time for a short email interview? Let me know. We want to get her story out. I think this is one of the best uses for the classroom.

    She does not blog. She hardly uses technology. She sat in on half of my workshop and her science counterpart stayed for the whole thing. They showed wordle to their students and it just blossomed from there.I have done many Web 2.0 workshops and wordle is a tool that is really non-threatening. I have many other uses for wordle that I hope to post here. It is really a wonderful tool.

    Noticed the same thing as your science teacher with my students when I used tagcrowd http://www.tagcrowd.com/ last year. Wordle gives more options however. Used it again this year with my students and they liked using it as a word choice tool. http://ssismar.edublogs.org/2008/09/22/wordle-cloud-2-wc/
