This is the wiki site for self-coordinated gatherings ("meet-ups") of educational bloggers, timed to coincide with ed tech conferences. An email discussion list is here. This site is a wiki, and so you add yourself to the attending lists, and help coordinate the time and venue for each "meet-up."

True Project Based Learning is a process that puts the student at the center of their learning. In this post I wish to share with you some of the top sites I found on the internet that promote true PBL. Since my research I have bookmarked a few more and will be sharing those in a later post. TechUniversity is a video tutorial and screencast site dedicated to teaching you how to use your Mac and Apple products better. We're launching with close to two dozen screencasts and will be adding new videos every week. You can watch the videos directly on the site or download high-quality, DRM-free videos with chapter markers. And to get your feet wet, you can check out a few free episodes in the Freebies section.

Every December, millions of tech-savvy young people descend on their homes only to arrive to a long list of tech support issues that their parents need help with. A few of us at Google thought there had to be a better way that would save us all a few hours each December... The result of our brainstorm was TeachParentsTech.org, a site that allows you to select any number of simple tech support videos to send to mom, dad or uncle Vinnie. The site is not perfect and hardly covers all the tech support questions you may be asked, but hopefully it's a start!

I, however, have scrounged the murky depths of the web to bring you the following, resource-packed sites; may they be the Babelfish for your future forays.

Furthermore, users can share these on social network sites (Facebook, MySpace, etc.), as well as create virtual "travelogues" on Google maps. MagToo's virtual travelogue is a unique feature unavailable on other image widgets, and allows users to map and share their travels with slide and panorama shows.

Wikispacetutorials.com is a tutorial blog dedicated to wikispaces.com users who need to find answers to their wikispace questions. We provide video tutorials and written tutorials that cover the basics of wikispaces, as well as the advanced features. We are not affiliated with wikispaces.com. We just think they have a pretty good thing going, and we want to promote the use of their site, as well as help train the wikispaces.com community to get the most out of their wikispace. One web page for every book ever published. It's a lofty, but achievable, goal. To build it, we need hundreds of millions of book records, a brand new database infrastructure for handling huge amounts of dynamic information, a wiki interface, multi-language support, and people who are willing to contribute their time, effort, and book data. To date, we have gathered about 30 million records (20 million are available through the site now), and more are on the way. We have built the database infrastructure and the wiki interface, and you can search millions of book records, narrow results by facet, and search across the full text of 1 million scanned books. Open Library is a project of the non-profit Internet Archive, and is funded in part by a grant from the California State Library. We have a small team of fantastic programmers who have accomplished a lot, but we can't do it alone! This is an Open project - the software is open, the data is open, the documentation is open, and the site is open.

Now you can create your own sign generator! Just find (take your own with a digital camera, maybe a DVD still image grab, search graphics sites, take a pic from TV, etc) an image of a sign or a photo where there is a clearable area to place text. Use GIMP (best freeware photo editor) to clear out the text area (if there is text already in the way) and then import it to this site to manipulate the text with hundreds of fonts, also make sure the image size does not exceed 650 pixels (height or width). You can even use a photograph of yourself (use free hosting so you have a web URL to use) or loved ones and add comic book styled bubbles (sample) where you can change the text characters to suit your needs (captionize your photographs), you can literally turn any image or clipart into a sign generator!

The Art of Storytelling website was created by The Delaware Art Museum to allow online visitors to engage with our collections in a unique and creative way. Beyond experiencing our rich variety of art works in the traditional museum setting, this online project - the Art of Storytelling - allows visitors to create their own pictures and stories inspired by works in the museum. These visitor creations can then be shared, both as an email to a friend and published to this site as an entry for all to experience. In addition to creating pictures and writing stories, visitors with microphones enabled on their computers can also record their stories for others to hear. Please explore the site, hear and see what others have created and submit your own story on the Art of Storytelling website.
