Today Merlin providing perfect framing services Singapore is going to tell you the basics of mat cutting that will help you frame you r art work, the first step in cutting a map is to take a long mat board and cut it inside the mat frame. Today's project would be 16 inches wide by 20 inches tall so if we cut those wall to fit it into the outside dimensions, you also have to cut the second board which you are going to use it for mounting that should also be 16*20 inches then take the art work and mount it into the center and there are no rules of thumb with the border width. Some people like to put some extra weight on the little bottom and most people have minimum about two inches border around the mat.187

The particular art work we are using is seven inches wide by 12 inches tall, so you have to figure out how width the mat border would be having. Draw a rough diagram of the outward and inward dimensions of the window and the art work. So take the 16 inches subtract it with 7 inches which comes out with 9 inches and then divide it by 2 you will see the result that is four and half inches, you need to have 4 ½ inches border both the width sides of the art work. Similarly take the measurement out for the height of the border take the height 20 inches subtract it by 12 inches and the answer is 8 inches then divide it by 2 you will get 4 inches so you have to take 4 inch border in the height side of the art work. Now after having the proper dimensions time is to cut down the mat, work on the back side of the mat board set the sides on the graph board to make it fix from getting the movement stop. Before moving to cutting down the sides make a mark on the four sides to have the desired window left at the end.

Put the board into the cutter and do the cutting on the marked areas to have the window left out. Now the last step is to put them altogether you take the mat put the glue on the four corners and put it on the picture in the perfect square shape.
