    Texting is taking over our young drivers today. It's even worse when they text while driving. Not only is it dangerous but its very distracting to the driver who won't see an oncoming car and crash or run a red light and possibly crash. Hopefully none of us will turn into that now that Texting or talking is now illegal and against a criminal law.

    i believe now that driving and texting is illegal that they have to hide there phone when they do text because some people are going to do it anyways. but now they wont even be looking at the road while they text when i could text on there wheel so they could actually see the road. other then looking down to try to hide there phone to avoid getting a ticket!

    In regards to this article that discusses how texting is/becoming an additcion. Texting is a simple way of sending text messages through by phone or computer to another individual. However, is becoming an over used tool by most teens. They text so much that it slowly decreases human intereactions, such as texting your best friend who is in the same room as you! in relation to the book feed, the characters can "text" mental notes/messages to their friends without the need to verbaly talk. Anderson touches on this when Titus' father comes to visit the hospital and instead of talking to his son he tries to M-chat him thus saying that people would rather talk through technology than verbally.

      The writer is advocating a step back from an overuse of technology but is using technology to voice his ideas. Almost this exact idea occurs in the book when the kids are driving past the people protesting the feed, while using the feed to broadcast their protest of the feed.

It is one thing to make the children comfortable with technology but giving them their very own mobile phone at an early age might turn them into mobile junkies who are addicted to their mobile phones with constant short messaging, cell phone games and other add-ons. Also think of it from the health point of view. In a world where we hear reports about excessive use of mobile phones being harmful for the health, how could we possibly allow the children to be exposed to these threats?

      I feel that most kids who do have a cellphone still barely keep in contact with there parents, or ignore texts/calls from them. I actually know teenagers that do this exactly, which totally defeats the purpose of there parents buying them the cell phone i the first place.

People only convert to technology is it's more efficient & convenient but very soon people become hooked on it which isn't good because people will find it an excuse to use their Kindles as like video games.     Digital reading is starting to replace books. This article argues out the pros and cons of reading on a kindle. Questions that are raised are: 1) Are kindles actually a good alternative to reading printed copies of books? 2) Are kids getting enough daily exercise still? 3) Do you think reading from a printed copy of a book provides more family time together for their children rather than reading from a handheld device? (Because moms can read to their babies & toddlers)

    I can similarly connect to what Gabe said..just like Violet & everyone else gets hooked on their feeds the kids get addicted to their digital devices. It totally defeats the purpose of even reading at all. Education is diminshed. When people become too absorbed by everything around us like iPods/iTouch, cell phones, texting, AIM, Facebook, YouTube, etc..people eventually become too dependent on these services losing touch with family & friends & the REAL WORLD.

      Despite the harmful effects of x-rays they have been used for 100 years. The harmful effects were not discovered recently. they were actually discovered right after they found X-rays.  This is just like how they have been using the feed for years despite its possible harmfull effects.

      I don't think people realized how pollution is actually destroying our world. Each day new ways of pollutions are being made. This connects to Anderson text because when Titus and his friends came home from the moon they fly Cloud TM. Even though he probably doesn't know what he is doing is harmful, but he is still polluting the earth.

      Wow that fact is incredible! Annually the pollution takes 70,000 lifes that is huge! How is that the same thing as cancer. Make pollution is cause cancer and other illnesses. Maybe because this is the future we can see how the air pollution will change in a good or bad way for the future.

      I agree with you, a lot of the times, if not most, people do drugs and other similar things because they have a insecurity with themselves whether they admit to it or not. It's something that everyone can get over and not do, yet many people still do it. Its the easier way to cope with things, yet as with everything else the easiest way to do things tend to have the most dire consequences.

    the feed exists today as it does in the book feed. only a down graded version. through chat rooms the youth find it very adicting to talk to other people online. but there are many problems with this. for example, DRAMA. sometimes it is easyer to get in a violently verbal argument on a computer rather than talk like that to a person in real life, alowing the person(s) being angry to display their true colors. similarly there is much cyber bulling with isolation, teasing, and other wrong behaviors that people typicaly only do because " they can."
