Making Great Pictures: Portraits - Photo Gallery - LIFE - 0 views

  •
"Look for New Environments, Mix People Up Memorable pictures are made using time-tested techniques, methods -- and, yes, even tricks. To help photographers of all stripes up their game, LIFE.com is launching a series of "lessons" on photography, focusing on elemental aspects of picture-taking. Among those: portraiture, or how to take pictures of people that really feel alive. LIFE.com asked professional photographer Tyler Stalman to offer insights on taking great portraits. Of this classic LIFE photograph by John Loengard of the Beatles in a pool in Miami, Stalman says: "Most people, when taking group shots, want to line everybody up -- even putting them in rows -- but when you have a bunch of people it's great to put them in a new or unexpected environment. Like this Loengard photo: you get all this extra depth in the picture, and there's so much going on at once. Don't be afraid to shuffle people around when you're doing a group shot.""

The Top Educational iPad Apps Every Teacher and Student should Know about ( 100+) - 0 views

  •
Langwitches has done a great job in coming up with a  list of great educational iPad apps organized into categories with different headings. The only thing that is missing in his work and which if he had paid attention to would have made his work even  way greater is to make the app images clickable. Instead of clicking on any app name to access it you will have to type its name in Google or iTunes store to find it.

100 Helpful Web Tools for Every Kind of Learner | College@Home - 0 views

  •
For those unfamiliar with the term, a learning style is a way in which an individual approaches learning. Many people understand material much better when it is presented in one format, for example a lab experiment, than when it is presented in another, like an audio presentation. Determining how you best learn and using materials that cater to this style can be a great way to make school and the entire process of acquiring new information easier and much more intuitive. Here are some great tools that you can use to cater to your individual learning style, no matter what that is.

How To Keep Students Focused On A Single iPad App - 0 views

  •
The new iOS 6 has a very simple and powerful tool called Guided Access that lets you keep students focused on a single app of your choosing. It lets you disable the home button, restrict parts of the screen so they can't be touched, and even stop responding to being turned over and upside down. It's easy to implement and a great tool in the teacher's toolkit. Here's how to do it: How To Use Guided Access Go to SETTINGS then tap GENERAL Toward the bottom, tap ACCESSIBILITY and then go to the LEARNING section Now tap on GUIDED ACCESS and switch it to the ON position Want to set up a passcode? You can do that now Now go to the app you want to use. Tap the home button 3 times to launch the Guided Access options Set the options as desired and then tap the home button 3 times again.

Auto-delete a DMG file when ejecting a disk image - Mac OS X Hints - 0 views

  •
"While the Mac App Store is great, I still find myself downloading .dmg files and installing plenty of third-party software. I often forget to delete .dmg files after I've installed applications. Here's a script to automatically move the .dmg file to the trash when you eject the disk image. To use this script, select the mounted volume in the Finder (or in the "Devices" section of the Finder sidebar), and trigger this script via your favorite macro app instead of ejecting the disk image normally.
