10 Things to Know About Travel in Southeast Asia - 1 views

  •
Westhill Consulting Travel & Tours based in Singapore specializes in in giving advice and tips for tourists from Australia, Canada, US and all countries all over the world. Check the local rags and mags: As I mentioned before, most SE Asian countries have English-written guides. That's because in a number of countries there, there is already an established community of expatriates. If you are looking to just find your bearings and want a safe bet on places to go, pick one up. Be prepared to be approached by strangers: Locals in Southeast Asia are often very nice toward westerners and truthfully enjoy telling you how nice you look. Whether it is coming from a man or woman, get ready for a swarm of compliments on your appearance. It may seem a little strange at first, but you will get used to it. I promise. This scotch does not taste like scotch: Drinks are a quarter of the price than what you'd find in Europe or in the U.S., the reason being that many of the typical name brands are regionally produced and use local ingredients, so don't be shocked when your beloved Grey Goose on ice tastes a little different from what you are used to. Use the opportunity to try some very interesting locally produced spirits. Take the tour deals seriously: Pretty much anywhere you go (of the major tourist destinations) there are sure to be tour pamphlets sitting around with great deals. From boat rides to day trips, there are great tours around that will get you where you need to go. Hire local transport for the day: One great way to get around is to hire a tuk tuk or a moto-driver for the whole day to take you everywhere you want to go for a very nominal price. Your driver can also work as a de facto tour guide, getting you around to the spots you may not have thought of and that you would regret not seeing. http://westhillconsulting.info/blog/10-things-to-know-about-travel-in-southeast-asia/

The Astrological Travel Guide According to Huffingtonpost.com There are countless tips out there on where and how to travel, but not one like this. https://foursquare.com/westhilltravel http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/108506-westhill-consulting-travel-tours-inc It may not be certain, but why not take a leap of faith for once and try this travel guide according to you astrological sign by the Huffingtonpost.com. A little research based on each astrological sign's personality has led the Huffpost to these guidelines. Whatever your sign may be, one thing still stands true when travelling - you hold the key to your own travel destiny. Note: This travel guide is just a suggestion and may be followed at your own risk and liking. Aquarius: You Aquarius folk are an eclectic bunch. Your interests vary and you are the thinkers. You know what you like and you very much so know what you don't, so your next getaway should be planned with that in mind. Because you are one of the signs who can get lost in your thoughts, why not utilize that head space for some clarity? Book a trip to Iceland during the prime Northern Lights-seeing time and ponder life's big questions under the glorious Aurora Borealis. Even if you come up with no answers, at least you can come home with some amazing photos. Pisces: Pisces are, plain and simple, the givers. They are far happier when they are sharing their experiences or knowledge with others, especially those in need. A trip focused on service could be the perfect marriage of relaxation and giving back. Pisces people, why not look into an alternative spring break type trip to Ghana? You'll get away from the every day rat race but still get the satisfaction of helping those in need. Aries: If you're an Aries, you've got energy for days. Sitting on a beach soaking up the sun doesn't exactly tickle your fancy. You'll want to take all that restless energy and put it to good use. Try a trip down to Peru and make the ever-so-infamous trek up M

The average yearly temperature is 26-30 C (79-86 F) throughout the year. Recommended clothing: Lightweight cotton clothes are recommended throughout the year. Rainwear is essential during the rainy season. Pack warmer clothes if you are planning to travel to upland areas. Social conventions: Handshaking is the normal form of greeting. If invited to the home, a small souvenir from one's homeland is an acceptable gift, and something for their children is always welcome. Do not give money. Remember that a nod of the head means 'no' and a shake means 'yes'! Health: There are many health risks associated with traveling to Indonesia, therefore all the necessary immunizations and vaccinations should be taken ahead. Malaria is a risk everywhere, except the larger cities. The dengue fever is present throughout Indonesia, especially during the rainy season. Mosquito repellents and any other possible protection is advised. Travelers' diarrhea is also a major risk; you should only drink bottled water and avoid uncooked meat, salads and unpeeled fruit. Poor sanitation can increase the risk of cholera, typhoid and other diseases. Health care is of a poor quality and very expensive, therefore travel insurance is strongly recommended. Food & Drink: Indonesian cuisine is formed not only by the local cultures and foreign influences as well. The basis of all Indonesian meals is rice, which are mixed with either fish or meat.
