Dates to Keep away from When Planning a China Tour - 1 views

  •

If you are arranging a 2014/15 China tour there are dates you must avoid, like "Golden Week" and those times when flights to Asia and within China are very costly. Westhill Consulting Travel and Tours, Singapore lowdown will help you plan your vacation. (Westhill Consulting Travel and Tours, Singapore arrange tours in many countries. i.e. SE Asian Countries such as Beijing China, KL Malaysia, Jakarta Indonesia, Bangkok Thailand and many more)The "Golden Week" of National Day HolidaySeptember 29 - October 10 Nearly all Chinese people will have a seven-day holiday at the start of October, due to the celebration of Chinese National Day. Usually a lot of Chinese people will take this government-given chance to travel to domestic cities, producing crowds everywhere and super busy traffic. Hotel and transport prices swell, causing high-budget travel during this period. Warning! Avoid this period when planning a tour of China.  With people everywhere, traffic will be hectic, and you will devote longer time on the road, which can also mean more scams on street. Booking of hotels and flights can be very problematic. Hotels are much more costly. You may be required to wait in line for around one hour to go in the popular attractions, and may necessitate waiting for a long time at restaurants. Traveling in this period is a matter requiring exhaustive preparation. You possibly will observe that the National Day ends at October 7, but we incorporate the succeeding week in this peak period. The means of transport are most jam-packed during the period from September 23 to October 7, however they are less congested in the week succeeding "t

Preparing for the Last Six Months of the Year - 1 views

  •
Now that we are nearing the second half of the year and spent the first half working hard, it may be good to spend some part of your time once every month in visiting wondrous places in Asia . Westhill Consulting Travel and Tours have listed a special place to spend your weekend at. July - Sumatra, Indonesia Sumatra is the second island popular for surfing with the most number of surf spots, with 18 altogether and an island away from the capital, Jakarta, Indonesia. The common time for surfing is around May to September with the trade winds blowing from east to south-east. From October to April, winds tend to come from the west to north-west, so the east coast breaks get the offshore winds. August - Chinatown, Singapore/ Chinese Enclaves, Malaysia
If you are up for a little visit to the dead, you should join the celebration of Hungry Ghost Festival in basically almost all of countries with Chinatown of their own. In Asia, the celebration of the event is widely awesome in Singapore and Malaysia. The Hungry Ghost Festival celebrates the Taoist belief in the afterlife. Chinese communities in Malaysia and Singapore believe that the gates of Hell open on the 7th lunar month, freeing the spirits of the dead to roam in the world of the living. The living, in turn, must make offerings of food and burnt prayer money to the souls of the dead to appease them. They shouldn't show complaints or heavy feelings, though, as ghost are said to hunt those that do. September - Borneo Malaysian Borneo is one of those rare places where you can sense the adventure in the air, along with the green smells from thousands of miles of rainforest just waiting to be explored. Borneo is the third-largest island in the world, and a virtual paradise on earth for anyone who shares a love for plants, wildlife, and adventure. October - Beijing, China Asia in October can very enjoyable; the month is a tra

Asia's Martial Arts - 1 views

  •
We know Martial Arts have somehow originated in the regions of Asia. While people in western countries armed their rifles and guns in battle, people in the East depend on their body to fight. Westhill Consulting Travel and Tours listed some of the martial arts per country in Asia that you might need to attend to when you are traveling: Bangladesh Lathi khela is a traditional martial art of Bangladesh and India that emphasize weapon-based fighting with sticks and other weapons. Lathi made by bamboo and other materials. Lathi khela teaches self-defense with sticks. One who specialized himself in wielding lathi and who lived on the martial art came to be known as lathial. The Lathial Bahini (group of lathials) performed various acts on the Eid or Puja occasion. Lathi Khela has a remarkable history but the popularity is on the wane now with the existence of fraud practices and strategies. China We all know Chinese Martial Arts which is also called Kung Fu. We find these fighting skills from Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Kung Fu, as a matter of fact have developed over the centuries in China. These fighting styles are often classified according to common traits, identified as "families" (家; jiā), "sects" (派; pài) or "schools" (門; mén) of martial arts. Styles that focus on qi manipulation are called internal while others that concentrate on improving muscle and cardiovascular fitness are called "external".

Westhill Consulting Travel and Tours Highlight: Stopover to Kota - 1 views

  •
While Indonesia's capital is powering ahead with global industrialization and modernization, Kota, its oldest town, remains to be the top traveler highlight especially in Jakarta. With a glimpse to Jakarta's historical background before the busy streets and skyscrapers, Kota is a home of Indonesia's colonial culture. Kota is the Indonesian word for "city", a reminder that the walled settlement which was once called Batavia had been importance as it had been the capital city of the Dutch East Indies in the 17th - 19th century. This inner city contrasted with the surrounding kampung (villages), orchards, and rice fields. According to the statistics review, It spans 1.3 square kilometers of North Jakarta and West Jakarta (Kelurahan Pinangsia, Taman Sari and Kelurahan Roa Malaka, Tambora). The largely Chinese downtown area of Glodok is a part of Kota. In 1600s, Kota was the headquarters of the Dutch East India Company and is dubbed as the "Jewel of Asia" and "Queen of the East". Not all of the buildings, though, have been protected as well as they should have been, unfortunately, but wandering through the streets and the main square give an impression of the European settlement that started Jakarta on the path to becoming one of the largest cities on the planet which indeed happened as the city now houses 28 million diversified individuals, scammers, legit and fraud Indonesians. Set off on a walking tour at Kota Intan bridge (also known as Chicken Market Bridge). Constructed by the Dutch in the 17th century, the wooden drawbridge extends over the Kali Besar canal, and would have been raised to accommodate merchant ships. The last remaining bridge of its kind, it is no longer raised, and can't be crossed by pedestrians - its planks are in disrepair - but there is talk of a renovation project. For now, it's worth a visit to witness a rare monument to the city's Dutch colonial era.
