Tricycles make cycling accessible to all, whatever personal challenges. There are a wide range of disability cycles that suit people with a variety of learning and physical disabilities, as well as health issues. Tricycles have 3 wheels, which means that the rider does not need to be able to balance. This is particularly useful for people with learning disabilities, such as Dyspraxia, and those recovering from illnesses. Tricycles can be fitted with foot plates to make it easier for riders to rotate the pedals and they come in upright or recumbent (horizontal sitting position). For adults and children with balance issues, stabilisers can also be fitted to standard bikes, which makes them more like tricycles. Tricycles come in a variety of accessible styles for people of all abilities including many persons with spinal cord injury disabilities. Tricycles is a great upper body workout and can provide a great sense of freedom for persons with disabilities. While the high cost prevents many from enjoying Tricycles they are steadily growing in popularity. Tricycle Deluxe Double Hand Drive: Frame : Made by E.R.W. Electric Wheelchair For Increased Independence - 0 views

  •
Electric wheelchair is a chair fitted with wheels. The device comes in variations allowing either manual propulsion by the seated occupant turning the rear wheels by hand, or electric propulsion by motors. There are often handles behind the seat to allow for different individuals to push. Electric Wheelchairs are used by people for whom walking is difficult or impossible due to illness, injury, or disability. Disabled People who have difficulty sitting and walking often make use of a wheelbench. A basic manual wheelchair incorporates a seat, foot rests and four wheels: two, caster wheels at the front and two large wheels at the back. The two larger wheels in the back usually have handrims; two metal or plastic circles. Electric wheelchairs are propelled by a motor and battery. They are very sophisticated. They are operated with a joy stick or push buttons. Some electric wheelchairs use advanced technology and can climb up stairs, move across gravel and even raise up to give access to high shelves. Electric wheelchairs need strong frames to support the motor and battery so they are very heavy and also quite expensive. People with spinal cord injuries face similar decisions. Often a person with a spinal cord injury will use a motorized wheelchair, even though they are physically capable of using a manual chair. They don't do this because they are lazy. They do this to be more efficient with their energy reserves. People with spinal cord injuries often choose motorized wheelchairs to preserve their physical energy, so that they can complete the work. Sometimes need to save on physical energy so that have some allowance left over for intellectual or emotional pursuits. We've pretty much accepted that yoga is an effective life changing practice that is here to stay. Still, not all yoga practices are made equal. As astounding as the yoga practice is (I should know, I've been teaching and practicing for the past twelve years) it's still a physical practice, and simply like whatever other type of movement you can hurt yourself.

5 Reasons Why Coffee is Good for Your Health - 0 views

  •
Over two billion people drink coffee everyday, yet many still believe that coffee is bad for the health. Coffee has a lot of caffeine and it has been blamed for many disorders from sleeplessness to nervousness to headaches. There are many myths about coffee and caffeine and all its evils. The most ridiculous one I heard was that it would stunt my growth if I drink too much coffee. I am only 4'11″ so my parents blamed it on all the coffee I drank when I was a child. Of course, they have not thought of the fact that no one in the family is towering over 5'3″.

Now That David Koch Is Gone From NIH Cancer Board, Formaldehyde Is Finally Classified A... - 0 views

  •
What's that word they use for a society where the group of those with money and power are above the law? Oh, that's right: Oligarchy! While this regulatory capture continued, how many of us filled up our homes with these toxic products? Via Think Progress: Large manufacturers and chemical producers have lobbied ferociously to stop the National Institutes of Health from classifying formaldehyde as a carcinogen. A wide body of research has linked the chemical to cancer, but industrial polluters have stymied regulators from action. Last year, the New Yorker's Jane Mayer reported that billionaire David Koch, whose company Georgia Pacific (a subsidiary of Koch Industries) is one of the country's top producers of formaldehyde, was appointed to the NIH cancer board at a time when the NIH delayed action on the chemical. The news was met with protests from environmental groups. Faced with mounting pressure from Greenpeace and the scientific community, Koch offered an early resignation from the board in October. Yesterday, the NIH finally handed down a report officially classifying formaldehyde as a carcinogen: Government scientists listed formaldehyde as a carcinogen, and said it is found in worrisome quantities in plywood, particle board, mortuaries and hair salons. They also said that styrene, which is used in boats, bathtubs and in disposable foam plastic cups and plates, may cause cancer but is generally found in such low levels in consumer products that risks are low. Frequent and intense exposures in manufacturing plants are far more worrisome than the intermittent contact that most consumers have, but government scientists said that consumers should still avoid contact with formaldehyde and styrene along with six other chemicals that were added Friday to the government's official Report on Carcinogens. Its release was delayed for years because of intense lobbying from the chemical industry, which disputed its findings. An investigation by ProPublica found th
