Periodontal disease is more commonly known as gum disease. It is a progressive inflammatory disease of the gingival and the surrounding tissue around the teeth.

Gum diseases are a common problem in India and have as many causes as the effects. Gum problems primarily happen due to prolonged ignorance of dental hygiene. While most dental problems like tooth ache, tooth decay, bad breath are starting points, gum problems usually indicate worse oral conditions. So if you see swollen gums, bleeding gums, or loose teeth, you must ask a dentist to know if it is Gum Disease.
