    Depression is a widespread disease these days most of the people suffering from due to various reasons. While most of the people simply walk up to a psychologist and take up prescribed medicines known as antidepressants, they don’t know that they are not a safe option to go for.


    But, after having said that, it must be noted that antidepressants are not at all good solution when dealing with depression as it can make people addicted and not only this, it would also give spike for many side-effects based complications to make the situation from bad to worst.


     


    Thus, how about making some minor diet changes as nature has blessed us with foods that can act as side-effects free antidepressants? Let’s have a quick look.



    • Eating food types that are high in nutrients- Any of nutrient deficiency can make people get their self into total disaster not helping it to work at its fullest potential, resulting in illness and complications of various types. Foods rich in protein, vitamins, carbohydrates and minerals and not to forget permissible fat content shall be able to provide you an active shield against depression and related issues.

    • Carbohydrates based foods calm the mind- Bread, cereal, pasta and related stuffs increase the level of serotonin in the brains and provide a soothing or calming effect on an individual resulting in less anxiety and nervousness. Go for whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

    • Go for antioxidant rich foods- Antioxidants (Vitamin C and beta carotene) are known to fight the effects of free radicals in our bodies that contribute to various dysfunctions and ageing issues. Take up broccoli, peaches, carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, blueberries, grapefruit, oranges, tomatoes, nuts, seeds, wheat germ and vegetable oils

    • Increase protein intake- Protein rich foods improve alertness in our bodies and can also act as a shield against depression also. Take up lean meat cuts, chicken, fish and eggs.


    Start concentrating on diets based changes and it can easily help you heal depression without spiking any other complications that happens when taken antidepressants.
