This is a clear and simple introduction for newbies like me. I'm willing to learn from any source possible. So the more intros I get, the better.

I came across this site dealing with HTML through Google. Browsing through, I found it to be great, even for myself, a stone cold beginner to this stuff. It's pretty much a complete tutorial regarding HTML starting from the most basic parts all the way to the advanced material and know-how. In the page itself you will see [Previous] and [Next] buttons which walk you to the next level of the tutorial, down the left side of the page is each part of the tutorial. Hope this helps!

I host at least 5 different sites with this webserver and have never had any trouble. I've used their help desk quite a few times and have always received a response in a timely manner. When I was first looking for a webhost, I found a list of reviews on CNet, and at the time, IXwebhosting was rated #1. The price is right as well. I approve!

Ok, so I'm sure none of are kids...age wise (not talking mentally here). I know I learn best when something is dumbed down and in every day speak. So we'll consider this to be junior geek talk. Works for me! And hopefully for you too!

I found this really great site that details browser compatibility with CSS tags. It doesn't depict all css tags (prob. because they all don't have bugs), but details the bugs and compatibility that are known. What is nice is that it lays them out in a tabular format and includes many browsers (including the iPhone).

Throughout this course, I seem to always visit this page for different topics. I find it to be written in everyday language, even when explaining Javascript. I've looked over the site, and it "works" for me to help understand the language.

Great site for free downloadable cheat sheets for HTML, CSS, MySQL, and seemingly everything else pertaining to web programming. Formatted in pdf to fit on one page to print for easy reference.

One of our challenges is to create a horizontal menu bar, which we did not go over. I am in the process of creating mine now and found this helpful. You might too! Hope it helps!

Download a .pdf of a CSS Cheat Sheet that looks very much like the one Alex is seen using in his Module 2 CSS lectures. Could it be? :) There are other Cheat Sheets on the site as well.

Great site for testing the different font, styles, weights, etc. options before using in your site. There's even a button to create the css code for copy/paste into your css doc!

cool custom Wordpress theme design

I'm becoming interested in how folks using Wordpress and other blogs have such distinctive designs. Turns out there are people/companies that are now designing custom templates (is that an oxymoron?). Here's one I just found, Monochrome Pro from Graph Paper Press

To paraphrase Denzel Washington's character in "Philadelphia" (Heck, this may even be a direct quote considering I've seen this film so many times... ): "I want you to explain it to me like I'm a two-year-old." This site does just that! When I am learning a new skill, I want material that is utterly foreign to me to be Kindergarten-ized as much as possible. I would not be the least offended if I saw the following (and hopefully with pictures!): "See Spot mark up the plain text document. Mark up the plain text document, Spot, mark up the plain text document!"

This is a great website that explains PHP in a very simple manner and includes pictures, tutorials and much much more. I found it VERY helpful when trying to gain a grasp of what exactly PHP is.

Never knew this site had tutorials in all the years I've gone to it. The "font" section looks like it'd be especially helpful when doing the challenge to spruce up your recipe page. Good luck.

I have found myself over the years Googling part of a HTML code to make sureI get it written correctly. Most of the time I will type in something like " just as a starting point. I think this site will help elimiate the need for many different sites. This looks to be a one stop shop for any common, and even some obscure HML coding.

Type "html basics" into Google. This site, last updated by North Carolinia State University in 1998, is the top search result. The web page provides unadorned, useful information.

Although we are not there yet, I found this site by Google to be very interesting. The fact that Google lets you play with their code and run scenarios is amazing. The code playground seems similar to what we see in firebug - you edit the code and see an output. It allows for Google to operate on a whole new level and interaction. Allowing people to freely test your code and learn from it, mow that's cool.

This is a great website for accessing video tutorials for just about any aspect of web design. The video screencasts are great quality and easy to follow along. #47 is a CSS Shorthand video that most people in the class will find helpful.
