Ellise's Picture Emporium - 0 views

i am re-bookmarking this site and re-tagging it with the mod 2 tag, because i have adjusted things a bit in my FTP... organized things a bit. So the old site bookmarked with the url http://thisandthat.nfshost.com/picturehome.html WILL NOT WORK ANYMORE. to reach that page, you need to hit this url: http://thisandthat.nfshost.com/moduletwo/picturehome.html which is the page bookmarked here. i did this because i am adjusting somethings on this page for mod 4 and when im done, i will retag with mod 4 challenges, but im not ready, at this point in time 3/10/09 to do that yet.

Fibonacci Sequence - 0 views

  •
This is my rendering of the fibonacci sequence. I must admit that i had done this previously using javascript (when I was an undergrad, 4+yrs ago) and I would not let myself 'cheat' by researching other web sites. After sketching out the functionality and few tries I was able to get it, but I did have some difficulty with the formatting, for whatever reason, I could not get the '\n' to work, instead, i decided to echo a
    tag.

    Hmmm... close enough. 0 1 1 2 3 5 etc.

Random Rolling! - 0 views

  •
It WORKS!!! Finally!!! And I only had to spend about 8 hours on it. Hah! This is my random rolling die page, and many many MANY thanks to Jen Rock, Ellise Kuban, Dr. H and my friend Evan the Bard (moniker) for helping me out with the code. Just goes to show that sometimes it takes a village!

I place a comment/link on this page above the YouTube video (http://www.tizag.com/ajaxTutorial/index.php). It's a great site that has more general info regarding the use of Ajax with php, forms, and browsers. Good for newbies like myself!

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Unobtrusive Jquery for webprog-5-e. Nav bar is dimmed at 40 percent, and goes to 100 percent on hover. After hover, it returns to 40 percent. The whole div takes the effect. BTW, this is how I called my div in Jquery: $("#mydiv"). Took me almost 3 hours to find that out. :)

A Long Way GoneQuiz - 0 views

  •
Oh my gosh, it works. After two days of trying to figure out why perfectly good code wouldn't work, Dr. Halavais told me that I had to zap gremlins in my PHP text, because the text was imported. Anyhow, I'm currently teaching my freshmen a book called A Long Way Gone, and since I need to find interactive ways to keep their interest buoyant, I thought this quiz might actually work in my own classroom. Thanks to Jen Rock and Dr. Halavais for their help in getting this accomplished.

Dice: successful. They were a LOT harder than I thought they would be... much love to Ellise for taking the time to explain the mathematical side to me.

I added a comment to the viddler timeline. This comment is useful in terms of validation. When you go to validate your pages and you have included "POST" the page does not validate. For validation purposes you must enter it as "post".

I can't believe it. I actually figured this out!! After staring at it for about 2 weeks, I finally saw what I did wrong! Wow, do I feel some major relief! Enjoy the dropdown, folks. I know I will, now that I made it work.

Googled Xampp for Mac and came up with something called apachefriends.org. Saw a security warning in the documentation. Wondered if I could trust the site and the software.

Blueberry Muffins (with PHP and using MySQL tables) - 0 views

  •
The blueberry muffin recipe now includes a way for people to send in their names, email addresses and comments about the recipe, and my database will keep track of all the information, ready to spit it out to me at a moment's notice!

Rate My Courses - 0 views

  •
Here is my final project, a way for people to rate their courses and make comments. I outputted the professors' names, when the course was taught and the comments, figuring that was the most relevant information.

'Contact Us' form - 0 views

  •
A contact form exists at the bottom of my recipe. There are a few problems with it, but I am begging for exponential amounts of mercy. I feel dumb.
  •
Need to send me the back-end code on that one :).

It's A Wonderful Quiz - 0 views

  •
A 10-question multiple choice quiz about -- big shock -- "It's a Wonderful Life." Step 3 of the assignment isn't exactly followed religiously, but I'm praying for mercy.
  •
Hmmm. Not exactly (you don't really *grade* the quiz.). But benefit of the doubt.

Fibonocci Sequence - 0 views

  •
An attempt at the Fibonocci sequence. I couldn't seem to get it to separate into lines, but if you look at the page source it looks great. Thanks to these guys for getting me this far: http://www.codecodex.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fibonacci_sequence

Javascript Tutorial - 0 views

  •
Another great beginners' tool. What I like about this site are the links within the tutorial that allow you to locate almost anything (Javascript wise) you could possibly be looking for (IE: checkbox selection, popups/alerts). It is also organized in a pristine manner which is of utmost importance.
