This is a message board on Live Programming Help for a person trying to create a Dice Simulator with images. It has sample code and troubleshooting help that may be of use for the Unit 3 Dice exercise.

I can't belive I FINALLY got this!!! I probably wrote a lot of unnecessary code in this one, but every time I tried to combine strings I would get an error message. Check to find out what your zodiac sign is.

I think I finally got it! I think that figuring out the mathematical equation behind this was the hardest part. Math is def not one of my strong points. I was able to figure out the php coding for the most part, but couldn't figure out how to add the sum of the previous two numbers (I kept adding one instead). Once I was walked through the equation, it made a lot more sense. Hopefully this is correct.

this page submits info into my database where i can read it, and then choose to respond. i added the javascript to this pages that requires an entry in the name, email and comment fields as well as a valid email address... comments in the .js file show where i got my code and help from. it validates

It WORKS!!! Finally!!! And I only had to spend about 8 hours on it. Hah! This is my random rolling die page, and many many MANY thanks to Jen Rock, Ellise Kuban, Dr. H and my friend Evan the Bard (moniker) for helping me out with the code. Just goes to show that sometimes it takes a village!

The CSS wouldn't copy over to the php file. I couldn't figure that part out, since I copy/pasted the exact link line from my HTML. I don't know why it didn't work.

The CSS is still there, it's just that it is only selecting elements that appear on the first page. The second page has none of those elements to select. Should change the selector to "body", since both pages have a "body" tag, and the design rules you have apply generally to the body anyway...

this is my version of the card game page, but where the card facing down is a random card, not the established heart card. i spent a few min. hitting the same card to see if they would eventually match, but then i got bored. I think this code should work, should is key. Prof, i will email it to you as per the webprog instructions to see if theoretically it would work.

Deja vu. Thought I commented on this, but maybe not. It sends the following as the realcard: cards[0]. Hard to match that with a 1 through 5.

Oh my gosh, it works. After two days of trying to figure out why perfectly good code wouldn't work, Dr. Halavais told me that I had to zap gremlins in my PHP text, because the text was imported. Anyhow, I'm currently teaching my freshmen a book called A Long Way Gone, and since I need to find interactive ways to keep their interest buoyant, I thought this quiz might actually work in my own classroom. Thanks to Jen Rock and Dr. Halavais for their help in getting this accomplished.

I am documenting this to keep it academically honest. I admit that the devilish character depicted on this website is disturbing.

I have reached my level of incompetence as far as programming is concerned. I have to use other smarts now. Since prof has already made reference to laziness being a virtue and other folks who have kindly done this stuff before, I am now searching for sample PHP Wiki code that I can adapt for this Challenge.

This is a nice, simple tutorial on how to submit forms using php and jquery. It's done by a 20-year-old who admits he was lost the first time he tried to write these codes. That made me feel better!

the w3c html validator checks html input to make sure it follows HTML or XHTML standards. it will also help you look for syntax errors.

This is the homepage for the World Wide Web Consortium - it details all of the standards for HTML, CSS, etc etc. Its a great resource for web coding help. Site also contains tutorials for more information.

About.com is always a good place to start because it provides a general overview with links to other resources. The MySQL article on About.com explains the basics you need to learn SQL code to use with your MySQL database.

This may be my new favorite coding assistant. I found it on the Web Developer's Handbook, as linked to from CSS Zen Garden's CSS Resource Guide. Seriously, this rocks.

Webmonkey, which I found while doing in ICM 501, is a great resource. I like the fact that it is at the "Primate" level of skill and yet has a 4-out of-5 banana rating. For those who aren't into coding and have a hard time remembering what kind of tags go before what you want to do, it's great to have open in a different window to reference.

Great site for testing the different font, styles, weights, etc. options before using in your site. There's even a button to create the css code for copy/paste into your css doc!
