Yesterday, BoingBoing posted an article with a new Facebook Icon for "Meh" Button, opposed to "Like". Inspired by this, PubNub developers built the Facebook "Meh" Button and added real-time to it. This button can be used with the Facebook "Like" button or standalone.

This is a collection of completely free online logo, icon, and button creators and/or editors. A couple of these have been around for a number of years now, but not that many people know about them. All websites have been tested prior to the posting of this article.

Je l'ai annoncé il y a quelques temps : je n'utilise plus Netvibes, je suis passé à Google Reader. Il me fallait un outil qui permette de traiter efficacement un grand nombre de sources. Je suis très satisfait de ce changement après plusieurs mois d'utilisation. Cependant, Google Reader n'est pas exempt de défaut et peut être amélioré de manière significative avec des scripts Greasemonkey très simples à installer. Ces scripts permettent par exemple d'améliorer significativement l'ergonomie de cet outil : mettre de la couleur, classer les items par popularité, de prévisualiser les articles directement dans l'agrégateur sans sortir de la page, comme pour Netvibes. Si vous ne savez pas ce qu'est Greasemonkey, vous pouvez aller ici, c'est très bien expliqué. Notez qu'en installant cette extension pour firefox : Better google reader conseillée par Laurent en commentaire (merciii) vous pourrez installer directement plusieurs fonctions supplémentaires pour Google reader ! I started putting together this list, and got a bit carried away. It ended up turning into a recommended list of free (mostly open-source) tools to do almost all of the essential tasks most people require of their computer. Almost all of the programs mentioned below are free open source software, though some are free versions of larger commercial products. Also note that this article is primarily aimed at Windows PC users, but almost all of these tools are also available on OSX and Linux.

In this article I'll feature four CSS 2.1/XHTML 1.0 based templates created by me. These templates adhere to current web standards and validate as such by the w3.org. I'll also teach you exactly how I created these website frameworks. This tutorial would be great for someone who would like a quick and easy way to introduce themselves to CSS/XHTML with the focus being on typical website layouts.

Looking for the best way to drive a massive amount of traffic to my site and my blog, I've recently stumbled upon a very interesting article about Craigslist. I've always been considering it a very primitive website, as far as the design is concerned. However, Craigslist ranks among the 25 most visited sites of the world (Alexa.com traffic rankings, april 2009) and without any doubt it's the most important classified ads platform worldwide. I know that Google Adwords is very effective, other similar advertising programs are good too, but what if we could produce the same amount of traffic (or even more) using Craigslist for free? The idea is creating an appealing advertisement (with a link pointing to our website) and posting it in multiple sections of Craigslist corresponding to the major cities of the world (highly populated cities such as New York, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, etc.). This will certainly produce a massive traffic flow. The problem is that if we post the same ad (or similar ads) in multiple cities, all our ads will be detected by Craigslist spiderbots and deleted by the staff. Even if we offer serious products we will be considered spammers, and if we insist, we will be banned .... ..... and this will happen unless we use the method discovered by Steve Mount to avoid being detected by the spiderbots and to avoid being deleted.
