  •
Introduction Majority of the countries worldwide are reporting a downward trend for COVID, with this comes a hope that this could be the fag end of the pandemic. In the MENA region, live & in person events are returning, steering in a new phase for the event industry after the slag the industry witnessed in 2020-21. Necessity is the mother of invention. The pandemic paved the way for innovation, new processes, technologies and frameworks and we have safer ways of organizing events, for connecting and doing business. If you are planning your next conference, event, award ceremony or team engagement program, take a back seat and let an event management company plan your next event successfully.

Bing Maps Adds Two New Silverlight Apps For Events And Customized Directions - 0 views

  • If you go to the Silverlight version of Bing Maps, at the bottom is an application gallery which adds different features and layers to the maps. Two new Silverlight apps added today are for Events and Destination Maps. The Events app brings up nearby events and places them as pins on the map. The name of the events appear in the left-hand column, where you can scroll through them and sort by popularity or date. You can also filter by specific times (today, tomorrow, this weekend, this week, next week, or a specific date range). The app also lets you narrow the search down by categories such as music, sports, performing arts, food & dining, and fairs & festivals. The Destination Maps app creates a stylized map that is good for party invites or directions. The recipient gets a simplified map showing just the route from where they are coming from to where they are going, and the maps can be skinned with different background themes including a a European road map or a pirate treasure map (below).

Localley.com/ Create Future Check-ins - 6 views

  •
Localley is a tool that broadens the functionality of Facebook Places feature by letting you check in various places using a date and time in the future. Of course it is disappointing when you realize that you and a friend were at the same place (a live show or a movie theatre maybe) but missed a chance of meeting there because you had no idea of each other's presence in this very place. This is the problem solved by Facebook Places: it lets you show your friends where you currently are and also see who is nearby at this very moment. Localley goes one step further: we eliminate the disappointment that is inevitable when you find out you missed an event you really wanted to attend only because you had no one to go with - and later found out that some friends were at this very event and you could easily join them. Localley lets you share your plans to go somewhere with your friends and even invite them to join you - which will quickly solve a problem of a company.

Web Hooks / FrontPage - 0 views

  • The concept of a WebHook is simple. A WebHook is an HTTP callback: an HTTP POST that occurs when something happens; a simple event-notification via HTTP POST.
  • A web application implementing WebHooks will POST a message to a URL when certain things happen. When a web application enables users to register their own URLs, the users can then extend, customize, and integrate that application with their own custom extensions or even with other applications around the web. For the user, WebHooks are a way to receive valuable information when it happens, rather than continually polling for that data and receiving nothing valuable most of the time. WebHooks have enormous potential and are limited only by your imagination! (No, it can't wash the dishes. Yet.)
  • Push is the simplest of reasons to use WebHooks. As was just stated above, no more polling every couple of minutes to find out if there is new information. Just register a WebHook and receive the data at your doorstep as soon as it exists.
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • A Pipe happens when your WebHook not only receives real-time data, but goes on to do something new and meaningful with it, triggering actions unrelated to the original event. For example, you create a script, register its URL at a photo site, and have it email you when your mother posts a new photo.
  • Plugins: processing data and giving something in return This is where the entire web becomes a programming platform. You can use this form of WebHooks to allow others to extend your application. Facebook's Application Platform uses WebHooks in this way, and so does Google Wave's robot integration. The general idea is that a web application sending out data via WebHooks will also use the response to modify its own data. At Facebook, when you access an app, Facebook sends a WebHook out to your application saying "Hey, someone's accessing your application, what do I do?!" The application responds with, "Show the user this page..." Facebook does so, and the pattern continues in the same manner as you continue to use the application. At Google Wave, when you do something in a wave, any robot you've added as a participant is notified via a WebHook, and the robot has the ability to modify the wave in its http response. Implement WebHooks in this way in your application if you want to allow others to truly extend and enhance the abilities of your application.
  • By letting the user specify a URL for various events, the application will POST data to those URLs when the events occur. With the cheap availability of PHP hosting and even easier simple app/script hosting like AppJet or Scriptlets, handling the POST data becomes fairly trivial. How you use it is up to you and whatever you want to accomplish.

Chernobyl-What makes it a must watch? - Gossip Ki Galliyan - 0 views

  •
HBO's latest offering 'Chernobyl'has grabbed a lot of attention in the last few days since it was released. This mini-series, co-starring Jared Harris, Emily Watson and StellanSkarsgard, is a very grave picturization of one of the worst human disasters in modern history. Written by Craig Mazin (of "The Hangover" Parts II and III fame) and directed by Johan Renck, this five-episode series brings back to life the tragic event of 1986 in erstwhile USSR and does not shy away from showing the horrors committed during that time. It gives the audience a glimpse of the events before, during and after the nuclear explosion, ill effects of which can be seen in Europe till date.
