In historical view, I understand Democracy in South Africa as one of those words whose meaning is constantly being debated. To certain extent such that it is a complex and very important issue to consider and talk. A fixed definition of democracy would contradict the very spirit of the word. Some scholars have compared different democracies around the world in an attempt to capture the essential characteristics of a "true" democracy. After all, I therefore believe that it is upon individual or collective view to identify and define this concept rather than providing a general point of view.
