Q Point Technology (www.qpointtech.com) has selected The Planet's (www.theplanet.com) new Storage Cloud service as the platform for its TrueSafe (www.truesafe.net) software infrastructure, which lets service providers offer their own online backup service. According to on-demand IT hosting provider, the Planet, which made the announcement Monday, Q Point Technology is the latest company to use its Storage Cloud, delivering its easy-to-use backup platform TrueSafe on The Planet's highly scalable, on-demand cloud storage service. TrueSafe is available through a Software-as-a-Service subscription model, letting any service provider immediately offer a branded backup service to their customers to preserve and protect server, laptop and workstation data off-site.

Web hosting provider, Rackspace Hosting, has named its Chief Strategy Officer, Lew Moorman, as the President of its cloud business, to be responsible for deploying Fanatical Support to Rackspace's cloud hosting model. Prior to joining Rackspace in 2000, Mr. Moorman held several positions at the management consulting firm McKinsey and Company, advising a variety of technology firms. Mr. Moorman holds a B.A. from Duke University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
