Social Semantic Bookmarking - PAKM - 0 views

  •
Social Semantic Bookmarking combines the positive aspects ofsemantic annotation with those of social bookmarking and tagging while avoiding their respective drawbacks like the cumbersome maintenance of ontologies or the lacking semantic precision of tags. Social semantic bookmarking tools allow for the annotation of internet resources based on an ontology and the integrated maintenance of the ontology by the same people that use it. We introduce Social Semantic Bookmarking and present the SOBOLEO application as an implementation of this paradigm.

Call it Semantic Web, Web 3.0, SemTech or just plain cool, it is coming to business. It is no secret that I am unabashedly bullish on the role of semantic technology in enterprise information management. THIS STORY on the combined OpenCalais extraction and semantic document indexing capabilities of the newly released 11.2 Oracle Spatial database is proof positive that this thinking is on the right track.

The Semantic Web | Digital Tonto - 0 views

Today we all use the web, but Tim Berners-Lee drives it.  It's his vision, uses his protocols and he presides over it at the World Wide Web Consortium.  What was a childhood obsession with connections has become a movement that has transformed the planet.Surely, Berners-Lee ranks with Gutenberg, Marconi and Alexander Graham Bell as one of the most influential people in the history of communication.  However, his predecessors stopped at one major innovation.  Berners-Lee is going for an encore. It's called the Semantic Web and he intends it to be no less revolutionary than the World Wide Web.  If successful, it will unlock the power of information stored in the world's computers.

Below the Fold: Death of the Keyboard, Apple's Siri and the Semantic Web - 1 views

  •
While still very early in its evolution and application, Siri is collecting a monster database of human behavior. Siri goes beyond "need" to "intent" - not what somebody wants, but why. Call it technographic, call it behavioral or call it semantic - whatever the term, Apple, not Google or Microsoft, may be ushering in the era of Web 3.0 and language-based search (and with it, capturing the ad dollars that will surely follow.)

Semantic Web Search Engine: the SWSE Mission Statement : Victor Godot - 0 views

  •
Although the Semantic Web (SW) is still very much in its infancy, there is already a lot of data out there which conforms to the proposed SW standards (e.g. RDF and OWL). Small vertical vocabularies and ontologies have emerged, and the community of people using these is growing daily.

A Web 3.0 Primer on the "Semantic Web" « Splat Productions : Philadelphia Mul... - 0 views

Geeky tech types love acronyms.  A popular one getting tossed around these days is the expression "Web 3.0." For those of you who might have been sleeping during your Internet History classes, this third generation of the Web is one which expands upon the linkages, accessibility and collaboration enabled by Web 2.0 technologies such as social media and content-management systems.
