CK12 Flexible Content in Many Modalities - 1 views

Maureen LaFleche spotted this great resource and here's what she has to say about it "Check out CK-12.org. It is a website that provides open-source content and technology tools to help teachers provide learning opportunities for students globally. Free access to high-quality, customizable educational content in multiple modalities suited to multiple student learning styles and levels, will allow teachers, students and others to innovate and experiment with new models of learning. CK-12 helps students and teachers alike by enabling rapid customization and experimentation of teaching and learning styles. Text can be read at two different levels - grade level and basic. You can download books and activities as pdf, epub or mobi." I have checked out several of the units and they look excellent for middle and high school.

Packed with book trailers and educational games, School library media Kids is designed to provide an interactive online experience to help get students motivated to learn, to read, to think and to make choices. SlimeKids also showcases an array of exceptional literacy-related resources such as author and book review websites as well as superb learning tools including reference works and search engines.

The creator, Andy Fine, has a master's degree in teaching,  and writes, "SlimeKids was created to provide students with a playful, easy-to-use interface through which they could learn about and access valuable online resources. The website is designed to self-motivate students to make their own choices and judgements about what is most useful for them. One important aspect of SlimeKids is that it helps students to explore their interest in books and reading, which has been the main goal of my career. SlimeKids is an interactive website through which students can read, search, watch videos and play language arts-related games."
