  • Curt Schilling's 38 Studios laid off all of their employees today, shutting down both their Rhode Island office and Maryland-based subsidiary Big Huge Games, a source familiar with the company tells Polygon. The news came as a surprise to nearly everyone involved, including the state of Rhode Island and Governor Lincoln Chafee who during an afternoon press conference said that as of this morning they hadn't heard a word about possible layoffs or a closure. During the evening press conference Chafee attributed the sudden studio closure and financial plummet to the studio's fist game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, which he said "failed."
  • "The game failed," he said. "The game failed. That was integral to the success of the company."
  • He told reporters that experts told them it would have had to sell 3 million copies to break even. Schilling has said that the game sold about 1.2 million copies in its first 90 days. "Companies fail over night," Chafee said, in response to a question about the sudden closure. The studio's financial turmoil came to light earlier this month when they first missed and then later made a $1.125 million payment to the state of Rhode Island.

    That Red Sox guy is unfair in trying to make them pay for him. It was a really good game. One of my favorites. It chose to buy that over skyrim and then I sold it after a while after I beat the game. It was really fun. I'm really surprised they shut down.

    GTFO is a strained center shooter game that groups up with 3 different scroungers, sent down in the profundities of underground buildings to extricate important ancient rarities. The ongoing interaction is extreme with its rummaging and riddles, making the game a stupendous awfulness experience. There is no sign of the GTFO Release Date yet as the developers need more time to do some final testing of the game. We hope that this time it will finally come before the ending of this 2019.

    The goal is to be the richest, and meanest person in the neighborhood and reach max reputation. The player gets six tasks but can also do various free roam activities around the city which are a part of experiencing what people living on the streets go through in their lives. The game takes a comical approach while empathizing with the lifestyle shown. The game is completely linear, apart from small player choices in regards to which quest or activity is done first. Most of the world is interactable, allowing the players to explore the level with a more immersive feel. Apart from quests, the players can do side activities like play Basketball, pet/feed a dog, or just annoy NPC's and take up a fight with them. The game will be available for Steam, Oculus Rift, Quest, HTC, and possibly PSVR early 2021.
