Sheng H-e, a cognitive neuroscientist at the University of Minnesota, and his colleagues conducted a study using subliminal pictures. They recruited volunteers from various sexual orientations and gathered together 1-0 members of all the following groups: Heterosexual men, heterosexual women, homosexual men and homosexual women. Each team then viewed specifically created pictures which were aimed directly in the right and left eye separately.

They used a picture called a Gabor spot, named after the mathematician who created it to check our ability to determine spatial fre-quency and visual space. Sheng He explained that normally your two eyes look at the same picture and thus dont have any conflict, but using a Gabor Patch he can produce a situation where in fact the two eyes were looking at two different pictures. Now, when one eye is offered an image that has high contrast and the other is fixed we'll only see and know about the image. The other image goes undetected.

Utilizing a high distinction image, presented to only 1 eye, the experts can therefore cancel out the image which was being seen by the other eye. The offer could only be familiar with the high contrast image.

During the test a high contrast image was presented by researchers to one eye, and an erotic image to the other eye. The high contrast image ensured the sensual image went unseen. Sensual images ranged from a naked girl to your naked man. As an example the naked woman was shown to a homosexual woman, a homosexual man, a heterosexual man and a heterosexual woman.

In order to make sure that the unseen images weren't discovered consciously the volunteers were instructed to push a particular key on a keyboard if they observed a difference between the images observed through their left and right eye.

Thirty-two trials were conducted and it was observed that the men exhibited a significantly greater tendency for finding the direction of Gabor patches once they were shown in a position that was previously occupied by the invisible image of a naked woman. This in effect showed that the bare picture served as-a subliminal image.

Nevertheless, when heterosexual men were found, a Gabor Patch, where there had been a picture of a naked man they had a more difficult time finding the direction. As did the homosexual men the heterosexual women faired far better when shown a picture of a naked girl.

It appeared however, that the results were somewhat better once the volunteers were found the pictures that appealed for their sexual orientation. Navigating To homosexual perhaps provides suggestions you could tell your mother. But, when they were found the pictures with no high distinction stunning subliminal impact and may consciously see the pictures the results were not of the same quality.

So, it'd appear from this study, that subliminal images are discovered by the mind and put to work.
