Research has found that most students are raising their scores with the intergration of technology. What can we do to bridge the gap between the fortunate and less fortunate? Is it possible? I mean within the same school system.

I was watching the movie,"Sixteen Candles". There was a scene that had me thinking about the rapid rate of technology in some schools. In this movie a kid bet his friends 12 floppy discs. Now that was 1984! I was still in high school and would not have known what to do with those discs. Even though they probably used them at home for personal uses, or maybe to print a paper who knows.. There were some kids back then who knew how to use those tools in a way that I wouldnt have imagined. Remember,"Revenge of the Nerds " and how those guys could reprogram a computer to make it do all sorts of things? What would happen if those movies were made in todays digital evolution? As an educator, I have seen bits and pieces of digital history as it has turned into what it is in today's society. In about 5 more years we will look back on smart phones, I-Pads, promethean boards, etc. and say wow!!! I think that if we ask our students how to do something with the technology they have they would probably make us think about more ways in which technology could expand in the classroom.
