Shane Hope is a talented mixed media artist that is exploring the relationship between his art and new technology. He uses a 3D printer to create molecular-like scale canvases which he then paints. Very intricate work! I thought this was appropriate because we discussed 3D printers in one of the last units!
A video and discussion of a software used to take 'snapshots' from movie scenes. Once compiled, each movie has a unique 'fingerprint'. Strangely enough, many of the fingerprints resemble the over all feeling of the film. I particularly liked 'Alien'.
I'm sure many have seen (or at least heard of) this website before. You can put in your interests --such as fashion, arts, crafting, etc--and be recommended pages online. When you are finished with the page you are on, hit STUMBLE and you will be taken to a new site! It's addictive!
An article discussing how the use of technology is changing the way art is made. Collaborative art is the new big thing, now outnumbering traditional forms of creativity. Because of easily accessible technology, everyone is mimicking everyone else.
Deaf artist Christine Sun Kim uses different forms of sound to create her art. Because she cannot hear, she uses many high pitched or unnerving noises to push the boundaries of sound art.
(Please watch the informational video on page) Website showing the 'Cintiq Pen'. A tablet-like device that merges an LCD computer screen with a drawing tablet. With the Cintiq pen, you can draw directly on the screen.
Examples of sculptures made with old technology. Discussion of Steam-punk- the resurrection of long-dead technology. Interesting to see what we consider "old" technology.
An artist takes posts from the "missed connections" link on Craigslist, and turns them into beautiful works of art. Added to the list because I've never seen anything quite like it. I wish I would have thought to do this!
This is a look at some videos demonstrating live action art exhibits. I like the 'laser cave' installation the most. None of these would be possible without the use of technology.
A website where you can "draw" with your mouse. This is very addictive! Much more relaxing to 'draw' on here mindlessly than come up with an idea for a drawing or painting!
