An interesting article that discusses how more and more people are buying their tickets through mobile services. This is behavior not only seen with younger generations; it's a move all across the board. The hope is that increased easy availability of tickets for sale on mobile devices will increase overall revenue. I guess only time will tell if this holds true. It seems like with the rise of the internet, subscription available performances have seen an increase in single ticket sales but a decrease in subscription based sales.
Orchestras are cautiously trying texting as a way to connect with younger orchestras. They are pretty jittery about it, however, demonstrating how orchestras are loath to experiment. Still, there is a glimmer of exploration! And not every experiment works...and that's alright.
